Chassis Rattles
I need help here. For the past year I have been trying to find the source of a rattle in my BERK. It first sounded like it was coming from the retractible steps. I had them replaced with no change in the rattle. Then they suspected the chassis itself saying the rattle was coming from the front passenger side leaf spring but the local Frieghtliner dealer said nothing is wrong. Does anybody else have any issues like this?

Check the plastic mud flap right behind the front tire.

Chassis rattle
I had the same problem with my 2014 Berk 400QL when it was only 6 months old. I solved the rattle by installing a 1 inch square tube brace from the fender liner to the frame. I showed the fix to the techs at FR last summer during the rally and they were impressed that an old retired 1SG could have came up with that idea.

When I took mine on a test ride it had the rattle. A tech went for a ride with me. Yes the mud flap behind the step.

My rattle also comes from the mud flat however I have yet to figure out how to fix it without welding in a new support.
Would love to see photos of solutions

We had the same problem. Could not have conversation with my wife. We where at the Rally this August and they put a 2 1/2 screw in the front wheel by the step. Haven't heard a sound since that time. ( in the wood frame )

Mine is loose on the engine side of the mud flap ... not the wall side. There appears to be nothing to secure it to.

I had a rattle that sounded like it was coming from above the door. I finally figures out it was from the awning above door.

Yes, it was a round metal cover on the front end of awning that rattled, so i used black electrical tape to secure it. No more rattle.

So why not pop-rivet it on?

It looks like an access cover for the awning. Something you may need to get at some time.

Chassis Rattles
It is an Access cover to manually retract the door awning using a 3/8 drive extension on a ratchet.

Mike, a lesson learned from experience, that door awning is $1100.00 just to replace, no labor. There are adjustments at the motor(left side of the shaft). There should be red and white Allen set screws there. They adjust the distance in and out of the awning housing. In my case they were so mangled all I could see was the red. When the awning does not close all the way it is a nightmare listening to the rattle.
You Carefree manual goes through the adjusting of the motor. Good luck.
Paul
