Cummins Fuel Filter Recall

Cummins has issued a recall for the UFF-XT fuel filters, part number FF63009. It says that the bond that attaches the filter shell to the filter nut plate may fail. If this occurs, the shell may separate from the fuel filter nut plate, causing the engine to stall without warning and without the ability to restart the engine until the fuel filter is replaced. There is date range of filters that are effected. The manufacture date is on the filter. I've attached a link to the article.

After reading all the info, it appears that a recalled filter would NOT have come installed on a new rig,

FYI, If you have had service on your coach recently like me (first year service on chassis, oil and all filters) you can call the service center that performed the work and they will have a record of the parts they installed. I called the Freightliner service center today that performed my service and they were able to look up the filter they installed and it was not one of the ones recalled.

I am going to get my annual oil, lube and filter on the MH and genset (Berkeley 390BH-60).

Have always done it through Cummins in order to avoid warranty issue. This time I am going thru a local truck stop Esco. Wow ... what a huge difference I price 1400 at Cummins and less than 500 at truck stop. Will not make that mistake again.

Anyways .... did not mean to hijack post.

I looked the fuel filter model.number from last year. The two on the engine are ff5632 and fs19798.

I guess the filter type listed above does not apply ... at least to the 390BH.

Tim

I used my local Freightliner service center for my chassis and engine service but I must say I always do my own oil and filter changes on the generator and it is very easy, very inexpensive and keep the receipts and it will not void the warranty. I'm to nervous tondo the coaches chassis and engine though...
