Damn NEW problem!!

OK, my Carefree main awning rolls out and then immediately rolls itself back up even though there is no wind at all. I've turned off the main power switch to the thing, but of course if the wind come up suddenly, I'm screwed.

Which is does here in AZ. We can have micro-bursts out of a clear blue sky.

Anyone else experienced this issue?? If not, I'll call Carefree directly.

Boowho??

Put the awning out pull the fuse till repairs can be effected. Put fuse in when you want it back in.

Sounds like your power switch is stuck in the "Close" position and you are over riding it when you try to open it. As soon as you release the switch it springs back to close.

Ditto on FIND the fuse (MIGHT be behind the power center if your installation does not have it listed in the fuse panel) and pull it when it is extended.

I would guess the wind sensor is bad or has come unplugged.

X2, quick call to Cqrefree service to ask about both switches may save a lot of time.

A quick check of Carefree site: The awning control system is "headquartered" by a 5" x 3" x 2" thick electronic control module. All roads lead to the brain and command to motor what to do. The wind retract is really a motion sensor in one head. Its cutout until the arm comes to a rest and stops bouncing. That's when yours says to retract. I wouldn't cross any wires by accident or you may smoke that control mod. Looks like if both extend and retract were energized at the same time, nothing would happen. That's why I'd ask for some tech help. In conditions you mentioned, not a good investment run without the auto retract.

Hi Boo,

While you have turned off the power switch the circuit is probably still energized. In the event the brain is confused you might want to turn off the coach batteries and unplug shore power for 5 minutes. Hard reset. see if this helps. Just an idea.

Are you holding the switch down while it rolls out. If so once it gets to the end it starts to roll back it. Just hit the out position once and see if that helps

Took me a little bit to get used to the "press and release" operation on my Berkshire awning also.
