Dash A/C not working
During my pre-trip inspection, I found that the dash a/c in my 2011 Berk isn't coming on.
Was working fine 8 days ago at the end of my last trip.
Fan does not come on & neither does the compressor.
Suggestions?

If nothing comes on I would guess a fuse. Have you checked them?

Fuses are good. 1st thing I checked.
Fan does not come on at any setting, vent, etc.

I figured you had checked. I would guess maybe a loose wire. It is that or some switch that went bad. I don't know what else it would be.

If the compressor is working you will hear a humming type noise in the front outside. You can also hear it as it cycles on and off.
I would, as Phil mentioned, check the wires. I had an issue while I was traveling where the dash fan just stopped. After doing some checking, I found that there is a large bundle of wires that are taped together in the dash toward the back of radio. One of the crimps that they use to butt end wires together pulled apart slightly and wasn't making any connection. You can check that out by having the AC and fan on and moving the wires in the bundle and hopefully the AC and fan will come on. You can then take the bundle apart to see which wires are the problem and re-do the connection.

At risk of hijacking the OP topic, I didn't realize that the compressor was in the front. I have a slow refrigerant leak somewhere and assumed that there were miles of tubing running from a belt driven compressor in the engine compartment. Is this a fallacy?

My understanding is that the AC compressor is belt driven off the engine, however there is a very small compressor located in the front fuse compartment that provides air for the vent selector.

you are correct. The main AC compressor is in the rear and is belt driven off the engine with tubing running to the front but as 3putt noted, there is a small compressor in the front also.

I ran it down to the small compressor in the front electrical bay.
Got one on order due to arrive Thursday.

Thanks, ceedog. I'll look for that on my rig, but I would be surprised if it handles the refrigerant. I'm looking for a leak for the 3rd season, and I'm at wit's end. Fortunately, Walmart offers 134a refrigerant for under $5 a can right now.

Moose, the small compressor that in Ceedog's picture provides air to the vent that change where the ac/heat goes. I.e floor vents, wndow deforgers vents or stright to the drivers area. (it might be an vaccum operated system, however it controls the vents)

If the rig is new and a Ford and the dash AC has any problems, I would take it straight to a Ford dealer to investigate it since it comes under their warranty. I would trust Ford more than an RV dealer when it comes to truck items. I had fluid leaking from my new Georgetown compressor and the Ford dealer just slapped a new one on and didn't ask any questions. My rig sat for a year before it was sold which is bad of ACs.

FYI:It's a Berkshire on a Freightliner chassis not a Ford.

I had an intermittent dash a/c problem it turned out the connector on a wire to a pressure switch was never crimped.
