Anybody replace the thermostatic switch on the dash ac. It’s located on the Evans tempcon black housing right above the generator. I’ve got a replacement but my question is how is the capillary tube removed and the new one installed Do you just pull the old one out and insert the new one to the same depth?
Is the original held in place by any clips or other retention features?

Found out for myself. As I suspected. Just yank it out and poke the new one in the same depth and orientation.

Question on capillary location

Edgewant,
I know the last posting was awhile back, but can I ask you a question? How did you find the end of the capillary tube. Mine goes up over the black housing (packed with fireproof foam). I've been digging it out slowly (very tight fit) but haven't found the end of it yet. Did yours go in on top of the black housing or somewhere else?

Any help is appreciated
Thanks

It has been a while.

It went into the top. There was no foam on the top of mine. I think I removed the 6 bolts that hold the Evans Tempcon housing to the firewall and sort of pulled the housing down to access the capillary tube. I believe I also had to remove a few of the heater and AC hose clamps. The tube was just slid into the housing.
