DEF tank on 2011 BH

Stupid question, but where will I find my DEF tank on an 11' bunkhouse.
It took me 2 hours to figure out the warning light, but we're good now.

Should be in the third compartment from the rear on the passenger side.

I see that also Dan. That's a long time to not have to ad DEF.
hopefully you have found the tank. My concern is DEF does go bad. If the tank is empty no problem but if it's not you may want to siphon out the old product before you add new. Also if you have been driving it and never had to ad DEF I would have FL check it out. You should be using about a gallon every 1000 miles.

I'm not sure. I have heard lots of info about storing and unopened jugs but product in the tank is different. I would think it depends on the weather. Also if he has owned the rig since 2010 and not refilled the tank I would say it's bad. That's six years.

I was at a Freightliner shop last week and one of their tech's said DEF had about a 2 year shelf life. No proof, just repeating what he said.

This is what I saw while work truck was in for service one day.. Like yours, no proof, just what Ford said.

It depends on how it is being stored, if you keep it in a cool dry place like your basement then yes about 2 years, if it is in the vehicle where is gets really hot outside then it could be 6 months or less. That came directly from a diesel mechanic I know.

That was why I suggested dumping what he had in his tank. We don't know what the situation is with the information we have but as the LST two posts have suggested and what I have researched six years in the tank is way to long and needs to be disposed of. I wonder what is the best way to dump old DEF. I would think it's safe to go into the sewer system but I don't know that. Anyone know? I have heard that you can mix old with new and it somehow revitalizes the old but I think I read it on a forum so well you know?

Isn't it just water and Urea (? PEE?) I would think the sewer would be fine

I have 2011 with no def. and no do not put it into the sewer not good for sewer plants

You must have a 2009 chassis? My 2011 has it. Mine was a October build I believe. It is built on a 2010 chassis.

I thought the government mandated that all diesel comply with standards for all 2010 chassis. I would think that a 2010 would have DEF. learn something new everyday.

I just double checked and the EPA mandate started Jan 1 2010 all diesels had to have DEF. I wonder how yours didn't have it.

Cumming uses a regen system witch does the same as def system
