I believe that the fact that it moves is done on purpose. It allows for the twisting and movement of the coach body when travelling down the road. If it didn't move it would probably break either the locking mechanism on the door or the shear off the striker pin.

I saw another thread awhile ago about a similar problem. They were having trouble getting to the tightening screw/nut. I can’t find it off hand but try the search function in various wording and it should help. I know there are other folks with different brand coaches who have dealt with it also so help is out there.

It is supposed to move up-and-down. I never thought about the reason why, but the above explanation is probably correct.

It's supposed to move up and down. You may notice the later model Berks (mine is a 2018) have a soft close feature on the door and a hard latch feature. For day-to-day use, gently close the door and it will latch and even be able to be locked in that position. However, before you start driving, give it a firm close and it will shift the pin into the upper position for a more positive/safe lock. Coming from a Georgetown, it took the whole family a long time to get used to not slamming the door every time we went in and out.

I asked Mitch at the factory about this pin when I was there for service and was also having a problem with locking the door and he said that it suppose to move. I was having the issue that the pin wasn't moving as freely as it supposed to lock would just slam against it without engaging.

Now when my door would just get slammed without engaging, I know to move the pin down and then it works
