This is an example of why I tell all that ask about my coach and Forest River that they are a customer focused manufacturer! They are proud of the product they produce and when they have an issue they do everything, within reason, for the owner!

Awesome Job Forest River!

The dealer is going to charge me full bore for the labor on this. Oh well, at least I don't have to buy the window.

That's hard to believe after FR stood beside it. The dealer should have noticed the racket when they test drove the MH. Seems like a lack of customer service on their part. I think with what they made of the sale they would bend a little. You are right though nice that you got the window free. Just a thought is this a really good shop or is their another you could take it to for the instal.

I agree but I am not sure how to approach it. They are one of the bigger companies in the area but I don't know about how good they are. I only had one prior dealing with the service department and it was good. I will ask for a firm price before I leave it with them for the repairs.

Anyone that has a solid number for the time it took their window to be replaced would be helpful for me in my negotiations.

I had my window replaced on my 2011 unit last year at the factory. It took them about 4 hours, but they had an issues because the window was slightly smaller than the original and they had to do some painting around it and filling in the area. I don't know exactly how they compensated for the space, but the window is now fine. They replaced the double pane with a single pane window. The noise I was getting was from the deflection of the air off of the mirror. The new window had a different design with a smaller, lower opening. Hope that helps.

I called my dealer that replaced my window and they also billed 4 hours to replace the window.

Must be one of the lucky ones, no noise on our unit.

I know FR pays 4 hours. Dealerships will take that as part of their aggreement to sell the units and it is in a way business they might not get otherwise. Manufacturers seldom pay what it actually takes, normally about 1/2. I may be stuck paying 8 hours.

There is no way that it will take more than 4 hours if it's a straight swap like mine was. Depending on your area most repair shops labor rates runs about $100 an hour

I would not accept any price that has more than 4hr of labor unless there are extenuating circumstances.

You may want to check with an auto glass repair shop. It may be something that they could handle for much less.

I would be interested in who the dealer is that cares so little about their customer after they have sold a expensive class A MH. I would steer clear of ever dealing with them.

I will reserve the name until I find out how they actually deal with me...

It's not like you bought a 1978 broken down MH. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The fact that its 1 years old and FR covered the window just makes the dealer seem like. Take your money And run kind of place. If they knew the product they were selling they would already know about the window issue and would have had it fixes before you ever bought the MH. Good luck and I hope they treat you right. You sound like a reasonable person and hopeful they are also.

Thanks for that. They are not a Berkshire dealer so they may not have known. But you are right in that they should consider that I did not buy an old beat up motor home and treat me accordingly.

Going to pick up the coach Saturday. I was quoted $550. We'll see how it goes.

I am waiting to get our window replaced as well. Could you post pictures of it when yours is done?
Thanks!

There is a good picture of the replacement window on page 3 of this thread. If mine is different I will post a picture.

They charged $500. It was Mike Thompson RV in Santa Fe Springs, California. They even left a $20 bill in the console that they apparently found! The window is the same as page 3 on this thread so no need for pics.

Glad it all worked out. 500 is not small change but all in all not bad. Thats why it important to get those little issues taken care of in warranty. If the original owner had been on the ball he would have had the window replaced. To bad you had to pay. There are so many things that are wrong with any brand MH when they leave the line at the factory. It really is a lot of work to get them working properly in the first year. It does make the years after that more enjoyable. I drove 3-400 miles with that window banging away in my ear. It about drove me nuts.

Did they have to remove the drivers side overhead cabinets and window shades when replacing the window? That seems like a big part of the job and no local shop seems to want to do that for me. I may have to wait until my unit goes back to the factory to get its roof replaced to get my window done. Randy at FR did say they could do both for me then.
