Driver's Area Dome Light

Do any of you have either a dome light or map lights in the driver's area? I have a 2013 Berkshire and it has neither. It makes night driving difficult if you need to check something. I have put up an LED puck light to compensate, but curious if my unit is unique or not. The puck light is not as good a solution as I'd like, so I'll need to do something better.

The dash light dimmer switch has an extra 2 click positions like it should turn on a dome light, but there isn't one anywhere in the cabin.

No dome light but there are map lights by the drivers and passengers seat in my '08 and you are correct that they are activated by pushing the dash dimmer switch all the way to the top.

Another cost cutting measure (like the slide out battery trays) by FR?? My 2011 has one on each side; the ones that are on the thin flexible "tubing" mount about a foot long that you can adjust however you need.

Boowho??

That's a strange one to remove. I suppose they take some and give some . But I sure would like those lights and the battery trays.

I think they updated the flooring to polished tile for 2013, and that's something we like.

Maybe the wiring is there and they forgot to put them in? I can't see why 2- 2013's would be different.

CapuTech, do you have the cockpit TV? Just wondering if they go along with that option. I have the TV on mine.

I looked on the spec sheet on the FR website and the map lights are not listed as a standard or option. Strange.

I do not have the cockpit TV. My 2013 is a late in the year build (November). When I bought mine they had an "older" 2013 from the beginning of the year they tried to have me purchase instead. It did have the map lights, but had different flooring, a different shower, different sofa (air mattress instead of using the cushions like mine) and a slightly different master bedroom layout.

I did not check, but I bet it also had battery trays

Just minor mid year changes I suppose. I found it odd not to have the maps lights though. I have since looked at photos on Texas RV Dealer, Used RVs for sale, motorhome sales, new RVs (where I bought mine) at the 2014's and they also do not appear to have map lights. Weird...

Our last rig was a class A.
I installed a red LED in one of the cockpit’s dome lights.
You can turn it on at night & leave it on all night while driving.
It provides enough light to see the whole cockpit area, read directions, eat a
sandwich & doesn’t ruin your night vision.

Plus an added benefit, it looks wicked cool to oncoming traffic late at night!

Ditto, my 2013 has no map lights either. I also find it strange that there are no scare lights or docking lights on the outside of the coach. The only outside light is the little porch light by the front door.

I guess Forest River is trying to separate the Charleston from the Berkshire because the Charleston has the map lights and docking lights. Not sure what else has been eliminated from the Berkshire that is on the Charleston.

Our 2009 has docking lights, map lights and battery trays. It's interesting that FR drops some things that don't cost that much while adding others. We did change out the door porch light with one that has a motion sensor works great when coming back at night.

I was wrong. My 390BH does NOT have the map lights.

I must have been thinking about another coach we looked at.
