Driving a Motorhome NOT as easy as Pushing a Button!

Or is it...

TMC Debuts Tag-Axle Venetian Diesel in Tampa | RV Business

...to complement the Venetian’s industry-first push-button engine start.

Ohhhhh Berkshire...care to fire a answering shot?

The auto industry has had this feature for over 3 years now....

Seriously Bob? Afraid of twisting a little key?

Not really Paul - but the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and not having a key (or key ring full of keys) dangling from the ignition is really nice. Also I guess I should have elaborated what a "keyless ignition" really does.

For example, the fob for our car can stay in my pocket, yet when I get close to the car, the car senses the fob and:
  • In the dark turns on the puddle & door lights.
  • When I pull the door handle, the car automatically unlocks.
  • If I get close to the trunk it beeps and after 3 sec opens the trunk.
  • When you walk away from the car and the car can no longer sense the fob, all the doors lock.
  • When I am in the driver's seat I push the start button and the engine starts or I push and Hold and the ACC feature is activated.
Translate this to the Berkshire:
  • In the dark, when you get close to the door, the awning and step lights turn on.
  • Pull the door handle, the door automatically unlocks.
  • When you get close to a basement door, it unlocks for you (conversely, when you press "lock" on the fob all compartments lock, press twice and the Front Door locks as well.
  • When in the captain's chair, push the start button and the engine starts or push and Hold and the ACC feature is activated.
just a little bit more than pushing a button

My luck would lose the fob while out kayaking.

What the hell are you driving? I've had Audi's and Lincoln's with keyless entry and ignition that didn't do all that, phew!

Paul,

2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 Turbo Limited.

Oh and it has Apple Car Play/Android Auto, Adaptive cruise control, Lane departure warning, and Blind spot warning (for lane changes).

Truly AMAZING what 2-3 years does in the Auto industry! My 2013 F150 King Ranch has keyless entry, but still requires a ignition key and has none of the additional tech our Hyundai has!

I have a 29 Model A Ford that will do that. All you do is push the starter button on the floor with your foot. We have come a long way. Lol

I'm with Bob. We just bought a 2013 MKX and it has push button start and I'm 100% hooked. I got used to it in about 5 seconds and that will always be the first thing I look for. A keyless Moho would be the best.

You're trying your best to push the Berkshire price point out of reach for a lot of folks

Unless I've got tonights' winning PowerBall ticket (first time ever playing) then the only Berk I'll ever see will soon belong to BamaBob.

Yep, because it will take that much to pay for it.

Good luck on the power ball, bought our tickets also. Be nice to get a couple of extra bucks. We DID have the power ball last Saturday.......worth every bit of $4.00!

We have the "smart key" feature in our '14 Toyota Highlander that we have had for two years. In all truth, I kind of miss the old turn the key to start feature. I really don't like carrying keys in my pants pockets so if I don't have a jacket on where I can put them in the jacket pocket, my wife will carry the keys in her purse when we are out and about. If I drop her off somewhere to do something we have to be very careful that I don't drive off without the keys (there is a little warning beep). If that happens you are fine until you shut the car off somewhere, but good luck getting it restarted or locking it without the keys being close.

Wooo...same here Dennis - got the PB 10 on 2 tickets, paid for our investment I guess.

SOMEONE in TN,CA & FL is a happy camper now - $500,000,000 each. That will buy some kinda MoHo!

RE: Comments about pushing the price point upward.

According to my son's friend, who is a Ford Service Manager, a unique keyed tumbler ignition assembly & key costs about 3 times what a keyed ACC/Start button costs--including the fob that controls it (the connection to the solenoid is software programmed, thus no key needs to be cut).

According to my son's friend, you can't punch out the ignition switch and hotwire the vehicle either. The computer will disable the ignition circuit if someone tries to do an end-run around the transmitter fob.

Not trying to run the price of a Berk up, just trying to alert folks to features that are commonplace in cars these days, and should be making the transition to MoHos.

Well I think I am in the pass group for the keyless ignition.

I had this "great" feature on a car a couple of years ago. Worked real good until the computer that controls it went out while driving down the road. The electronics were all going nuts but the car was still driving so I high tailed it home. Only problem is once I got home, I could not shut the car OFF. After several phone calls with the dealership, I drove it to them and left it there still running. Not sure what they did to shut her down but it they had to replace some pretty expensive electronics.

I think I'll keep my key!

A few years ago we were at a boy scout camp out.
one parent gave car keys to boy to get items from car.
he came back and said the remote wont open the car, we all look at him and said did you try the key? The boy says, what? the key?
we had to tell him how to use the key to open the door.
