Electric Cord Reel

Has anyone with a newer Berk (with the tiny bay space for the electric hookup and inverter) ever reconfigured that bay to allow for a cord reel?

It's been discussed at great length. A few have been able to do that mod depending on how you are configured. On my 2011 390 RB it would require way more fabrication than I'm willing or able to do. DP a search there is good info hiding.

This is something I would really love in my coach. It would really make things a lot easier!

I purchased one from Mor-Ryde/ Very happy with it. My unit is 50amp, it reels in very easy. I have the manual one, I think it also comes 12V. Unit is approx. 13 inches high, 5 inches wide
Go to MorRyde site/click on other products. It's good for 50' of 50 amp

Was this installed in a Berkshire? If so where did you put it.

Phil/Kenny,
I don't think that Brookstone has a Berkshire. Looks like from his picture he has a 5th wheel so the install won't apply to us.

We are very restricted in that compartment with the transfer switch and in my case a Progressive EMS.

I was thinking of seeing if FR would take on the modification to put in a Shoreline RL54. It's only 11.5 inches tall. It would require moving the inverter and shelf up about 2 inches, along with the electrical hookups. Not particularly easy but I think it's possible.

I had no idea you were that size restricted. Good luck with project guys. You would think they would have a reel in them already.
I know you don't want to hear this, but I could sleep in my 5th wheel basement, I even have outside tv in there. Wife calls it bad boys room!!

I have one and would gladly post a picture if I were learned enough to do so.

Heck I could have a sleepover in my basement. Although not as tall as a 5er basement there is Tons of room and much larger. Although I manage to fill it up. The basement isn't the issue. This is a separate compartment with lots of stuff in it.

When it's too much effort for me to un-plug my cord and roll it up and stick it in the elec bay that's when I'll need to sell my rig.... Same with water and sewer....

would this work if yon moved the A/B box? 10"/11" high. How much room behind the compartment? Mount behind and fashion a box to enclose, then cut hole in compartment to get to it?? Your setup is different than my 2008.

This was the #3 request to Berkshire -- I KOW they saw our wish list, weather or not the acted on it is any one's guess.

Sad to see a Riverstone 5er has a power cord reel and we are still stuck with finding a place for the Anaconda (especially since SOBs offer this in comparable rigs!)

Seriously Bob, comparing a 5er to a Moho, IMHO you're comparing apples and oranges.

Not really Paul - A Riverstone is the Berkshire (or maybe better in some ways) of the 5er family (and in fact has several features that Berks should emulate--the 50 AMP cord reel being one of them)
