electrical problem - help

Have a 2009 Berkshire, 390QS.

When hooked up to shore power, 30 or 50 amps. a couple of issues.

1. A/C power light on Magnum control panel dosen't light up.
2. Both TVs, living room and bedroom don't work.
3. Both outlets on slide don't work.

all above work if i turn on the inverter.

1. All other outlets, microwave, ref, do work along with the heat pumps.

2. Have power at all the GFI outlets too.

Have reset all the circuit breakers multiple times without any change.

Anyone have a problem like this? Open to suggestion on what to look at next.

Sounds like those circuits run through the Inverter which should be turned on along with shore power. All f those other circuits won't operate through the Inverter due to the large amp draw which would drain the batteries very quickly. If it's set up like mine the Inverter is a 3 stage battery charger as well. If I turn off the Inverter all the circuits that run through it are off. My AC units and Microwave are in a sub panel prior to the Inverter and operate on shore power without the Invereter being turned on.

Terms please.

The thing your shore power plugs into is a CONVERTER. It CONverts 120Volts AV into 12 volts DC for use my your battery powered items and charge you battery.

An INverter takes 12 volt battery power and INverts it an makes 120 volt AC "house current" to run your AC items (like your TV).

It sounds like the fuses in you CONverter may have blown (perhaps by hooking up your battery backwards).

Thanks for replys. Never had to use the inverter when hooked up to shore power before this problem. I will check the fuse on the converter.

Several months ago I had an issue similar to yours and it turned out the problem was with the shore power. Are your batteries fully charged? Mine discharged and had to be recharged so I could take it home. Then I plugged it in at home and the "ac in" light came back on. This is another system I wish I knew more about.

Have no idea on the charge of the batteries, the Magnum monitor lights don't show the status. It appears the battery level are ample to move the slides and leveling system. Know a easy way to check them with a multimeter?

I had a similar problem where the AC power light would not come on...some things working and others not on my 2010 390BH. It turned out my batteries died. The inverter kept trying to charge the batteries anyway and that eventually burned through two wires in the inverter...which ended up tripping the inverter circuit breaker. I had to replace the batteries and the wires in the inverter.

No3putt were you plugged in at a storage facility or campsite? Maybe you could test it at a different outlet. I got no 'ac in' at the storage lot but, as soon as I got it plugged in at home, the lights came on. On the right side of the Magnum remote, the lights worked their way down to float. 2 simple ways to tell the charge of your batteries, 1 idiot lights where your water pump and water heater are. 2 leveling system has a warning light indicating low voltage when you try to use it.

Have done some troubleshooting and have found all the wires in the AC breaker panel on the neutral power bus have burned. Working with the dealer and breaker box manfacture on what happen.
