That is what BooWho and I are trying to find out. Hoping to have a reply to our email to Freightliner as to what years are affected and has the problem truly been fixed.

At this point, I'd say those are in fact the problem bolts.

Boowho??

1)Who has actually had a unit break? 2)What model year was the motor home? 3)Was it a 340 or 360 HP engine?

The bracket holding the clutch wire is what broke off on my unit and went through the radiator and caused all my fun this summer. Looking at the drawings and knowing my chassis was built in June 2007 and now reading the Tech bulletin wonder if this was related to my problem. Maybe the bolts were to short. Could that be why no one wanted to repair it??? Wish I knew how to find out. The run around I got this past summer has left a bad taste in my mouth. Then and now I feel like I was taken but what can you do??? Boo can not even get straight answers from Gaffney. Looks like a big game of CYA at our expense.

For those who do not know of what I speak read the radiator thread, start at post 33.

For what its worth and what I gather from silver's diagram in post #80, it looks to me..............

It is either bolts #12, which attach the fan clutch #2 through Spacer #3, through Sheave #15 (pulley) into the sheave/ fan bracket. If this is the case, I would suspect to go to a 5-bolt pattern, the fan clutch, spacer and bracket can be changed out, unless they repair with a band aide by squeezing another bolt in.

Or it is bolts #13 which attach the sheave/ fan bracket to the engine. Adding a fifth bolt to the bracket would require drilling and tapping the engine.

Another curious thing is that the Service Bulletin shown by one of the posts, indicates lack of thread depth as opposed to not enough bolts. -Hank

Sure they are covering their behinds could be big bucks to either FLCC or Cummin's or both. Like I said in an earlier post if you are getting a run around file a complaint with the NTSB and FTC. That could lead to a class action suite in which a judge will mandate they supply information.
