Engine Shutdown

I am heading to Gaffney for my annual service and while travelling along the highway at 65mph, everything, including my engine shut down- twice. The ABS light comes on and the entire light bar goes dark, tach drops to zero as does the speedometer. This happens only for a few seconds and come right back on again. I know bud1249 had the same issue and was wondering if anyone else experienced the problem and if so, did you get the issue repaired. Since I am in Gaffney, I will have them check it out again.
Thanks.

Ours did that - it was an alternator failure causing low voltage.

I also had that happen and the oasis shop looked it over and found that there was a cable that runs from the dash under the coach that was not secured properly. Have not had the issue again since. The dealer never even charged me for the time to diagnose the issue!!

Happened to me once. Was startled when the dash went blank and can't remember if I lost power during the second or two (cause I took my foot off the accelerator pedal). Came back on its own. Have a 2017 XL 40A-380. Would appreciate any info on the fix.

Spent the day at Gaffney having my annual service done and asked them to check to see if there was anything that could cause the shut down issue. They came back to me and said that they couldn't find any problems and that everything checked out ok. I wish they could have found something because that would have made me feel better knowing that the problem would not happen again.

Were or are they aware that others are experiencing the same?

I mentioned that fact to the tech that worked on my coach. He just said that he couldn't find any issues with the wiring and that there were no codes stored in the computer. Not really reassuring but it's the best that we can get at this point.

That has happened once to me in my 2017 38a BH. The folks at the freight liner didn’t find anything. Not reassuring.

It has happened to me 4 or 5 times in the past four years in our 2014 390BH-60. No loss of power, but it did drop me out of cruise control the last time. It has always happened while cruising at highway speed.

Had the exact same issue; total loss of power for about 5 seconds, including no power steering! I was using cruise control at 67 mph and then total loss of power; glad I wasn't in the mountains on a curve!!!! Contacted the main FL number and spoke to their tech, who stated they have "never heard of this". They referred me to a local FL dealer in Elkhart. When I spoke to them, they "have heard many people with this same issue"... They were able to get me in yesterday (loss happened on Monday and I was already scheduled for other MH work on Tuesday - Thursday). They ran "all diagnostics" and found no issue. They spoke with the folks in Gaffney, who told them to "check all power connectors and grounds to ensure they are tight". After 4hrs, they stated they found "A problem with a loose connector and all others look good". They stated this was the only thing found and fingers crossed it was the issue; did not instill a lot of confidence... In their paperwork, it stated the issue found was "a loose chassis ground cable", which to me is different than a loose connector. Drove it for 1.5hrs yesterday in heavy rain with no issues, but didn't have any issues for over a year prior to this issue!

I thought last year or even before that this problem had been traced to the LBCU. Several LBCU problems have been traced to the software load.

I had the recall on my LBCU completed last November by FL. Additionally, I was informed by the Elkhart FL service manager that this "could not be the cause of this issue"... For what its worth...

I recall that too, and that's why I've been looking for the old thread(s). One service manager's opinion is not gospel. I've known them to be wrong... or lying.

The old thread was started by CAT-RM. the name of the thread is Motor shut down. It's from 2016. I found it but can't figure out how to copy the link. That's something I need to learn

Here's the thread your talking about. It was started by CAT-RN.

To copy the link go to the address bar at the top of the page, highlight the text in the address bar, copy then paste in your message. It works this way on a computer, as far as smart phones I don't have an idea.
