Equalizer auto leveler

Went to leave the campground in Massachusetts and discovered the front left jack would not retract. Called Equalizer and they walked me through an emergency procedure to get it to retract. Now at the campsite in Maine it will not come down and cannot level the coach. Any suggestions on how to get it working again. Thanks.

Marty,

I assume that you manually retracted it at the pump with a drill, correct? If that is the case, you maybe able to reverse the drill and extend it. If that doesn't work, I would try retracting all of the levelers a couple times and see if that works. I would also check the set screws on the jack and make sure it is tight. If all else fails, I would retract the jacks, air up, put something under the inoperable Jack that it can sit on when you air down, and then manually or automatically level the coach. I tried to copy the manual for the system and send it to you, but it won't let me upload it. Good luck!! Hello to Donna!! Craig

Marty,

One other thought. If you did "drill it up", did you put the red knob back in its original position ( I believe that is a bypass or something). Craig

All i had to do to get it to retract per Equalizer was to turn the screw on the end of the solenoid and turn it clockwise 2 turns and then hit any retract button and the jack came right up. Now i cannot get it to do anything. The other 3 work fine.

Equalizer auto leveler

Marty, I would agree with Ernest. Try putting the "screw" back in the prior position it was in before you did the emergency procedure. Craig

Our Georgetown has an Equalizer system, we've had a few problems!
Here are some manuals.

UPDATE:
Here's a link to Equalizers service and manuals.

After getting the jack to retract I did turn the screw back the 2 turns to the originsl positioon. When trying to level it made no difference, the jack would not come down. Per Equalizer need to check ground and see if power is to the solenoid, Could be a bad solenoid.

Isolated it to one of 2 things. Either a broken wire or needs a new controller. There is no power to the solenoid controlling the front left jack. I need to crawl into the belly of the beast to check out the wires at the controller. Per Equalizer a new controller is $500+ depending on which model i have. Need to check it out tomorrow.

Marty,
Good luck with what you find. Hopefully it is a broken wire and not the controller. Keep us informed with what you find.

I'm guessing they won't warranty the part either. Hope it's the lose wire.

AFAIK, there are two motor types; bi-directional and uni-directional. I believe FR uses the only the uni-directional pump so turning it backwards would not raise the jacks and MAY actually damage the pump.

You can tell which you have by the number of solenoids on the motor itself; one solenoid = uni, two solenoids = bi

I would not try turning the uni-directional pump backwards.

Just my $.02 worth. YMMV

Boowho??

When I had that problem with my old Winnebago Vectra my temporary fix was a bottle jack on the frame near leveler.
