Excellent Service at a Hill Truck Sales of South Bend, IN

I have been having an issue with a shimmy/vibration in the front end of my new coach since day 1 when I picked it up at the dealer 10 months ago. I had gone to several places to have it looked at and told Steve of the Freightliner help desk that I was going to the FROG Rally in Goshen. I asked if there was a Freightliner dealer that could take a look at my coach and he made arrangements for me to go to Hill Truck sales in South Bend, Indiana at 1011 Sample Street (574-289-4066). I arrived early Thursday (7/31) and met up with Jimmy Berridge who is the Body Shop Manager. He had Verdell and John take the coach for a ride and when we returned, they both said that there was definitely a problem. They did a number procedures on the front wheels and determined that the tires were out of round (almost oval shaped). Jimmy then contacted the help desk and told Steve the issue and he said to replace only 1 tire. Jimmy didn't like that idea so he went back to Steve and they agreed to replace both front tires. Jimmy and Laurie made arrangements with a local tire shop to replace the front tires. During this several hour process, Laurie, who is the office manager and warranty support person, kept my wife, who was in the drivers lounge, informed of everything that was happening.
The point of this posting is that if you are ever in the South Bend area and need work done on a Freightliner chassis, be sure to go to Hill Truck Sales in South Bend. Everyone at this facility was extremely knowledgeable and could not have been more friendly, caring and concerned with making sure that everything was just right. They took excellent care of my wife and I while we were there and it looks like the issue has finally been resolved.

Tom that's good news. I know you have been fighting this issue too long. Are you in Goshen tonight?

So that is why you asked me if I had been having shimmy issue when we met yesterday.
I had told you I had a front end alignment before we left Texas.
My issue was pulling to the right.
The alignment cleared up 'most' of the issue for me, but still have a slight pull to the right most times.

Anyway, Nickie and I are glad to meet all of you.

Yes, Margaret and I are in Goshen as is Marty and Donna. When do you expect to arrive?

Dan,
Yes, that is why the question last night. Every time i mention that I have Goodyear tires, all the techs just look at me and roll their eyes. Not sure what that means though (LOL!!)
Nice to meet you and Nickie as well.

Section to the right after you enter. Paved roads, gravel pads full hook up near the street.
There is 6 or 7 Berkshires in here now.

I forgot to include that fact that they are open from 7am until midnight Monday through Friday and open on Saturday from 9am to 3pm (not sure if the hours are exactly correct but they are open on Saturday as well).

Tom, after talking to a few Berkshire owners I think I'll check into taking our rig to that shop while we are in the area.
Even though my issue is a pull to the right maybe they can help with that.
I don't want to drive a few thousand more miles before we get home holding the steering wheel to the left.
Thanks for the tip.

Likewise Phil.
It's always nice to put a face to these online user names.
See you around the rally.

Tom, I talked to JImmy on the phone. Nice guy.
Scheduled to take it to him in the morning.
He did remember you without me having to drop names.

Now that you have driven home from Goshen and back to mouse land with the new tires on the front, the question is did it correct your shimmy problem? Having fun?

Marty,
Problems seems to be pretty much eliminated. I find that occurs on certain roads which I attribute to the road surface. How is the pre surgery testing going? Hope all is going well.
Say hello to Donna for us and tell her that Mickey says he can't wait to see you guys in January.
Take care.
