Fair price?

Looking at a new 2016 Berkshire 40bh with upgraded 380h motor. Dealer says I'm getting a steal at $201000 at 3.99% with 10% down. Is this a steal, average or bad price?

It depends on if you are willing to travel or not.

When I was looking for ours in 2013, the best deal I could get locally was $205,000 on a 390BH-60. I looked online and started calling making offers. While I was talking to one salesman he told me there was a $10,000 rebate available also. I ended up getting one in Seattle for $149,900. Well worth the time and cost to fly in and drive back.

Check on the internet and make some offers. All they can do is tell you no.

I agree with badman, it's does require however that you find a motivated dealer. Your best pricing will be on a unil that is 1 model year old that has not left the lot. This is how I buy all of my vehicles .... why not let the dealer eat that first year of depreciation.

You will get a better price from the internet. Most of those sellers are volume dealers and make their money on moving product instead of worrying about how much they pocket on each sale. I agree with the above, if you can travel, to say Dallas, I'm certain you will get a much better deal.

sirozz - I have gotten 33% off of MSRP, plus an additional what I thought a fair price for my trade. I did travel 1,000 miles to buy and was exactly this time of the year in 2011.

Timing your buy is crucial. This time of the year is great and also at the very end of the month (like now). Also a full-moon (LOL).

I do not understand the "2016 Georgetown 350XL". If the price includes your trade, it is not good.

I agree, if this is the price without a trade, your getting a 33% discount, which, IMHO is a fair/'good price. If your trade is included, the deal is less than optimal. You should be able to do better, the 30-33% is where you should be BEFORE any trade consideration/negotiation!! You should also research the trade-in value of your unit and demand that you receive this price minus the cost to correct any issues that need attention on your unit.

I paid 200k for 2015 40BH + they through in vent covers and the best dish system I could find and a real oven. I bought in October of 2014 at Hershey. The next day a local dealer offered 10k more off if I would ask for my deposit back.

As far as trades I took the time to consign my older rv to another dealer and did well. Trading in anything and you get hammered

That's a pretty good price, if 302K is MSRP, that would be a little over 33% off.

We bought from MHSRV in Alvarado, TX but we were able to order the exact color interior and exterior that we wanted. No "public" foot traffic or test drives on our unit before we owned it. Sometimes that makes a big difference in the overall health of your unit, especially things like slides and dash board knobs.
They gave us a good price on the unit and our trade as compared to other dealers. I also thought the loaner car they gave us to use, and the covered parking for 4 days while doing our PDI was nice. (Especially since we picked up our new unit during those awful rain storms in Texas!).

I visited MHSRV last week. They had a rig that I liked but I felt they tried to take advantage of me on my trade in. The salesman wanted to give me $108k for my 2012 390fl telling me that I overpaid when I bought it. After doing a Google search for my unit, I found out they sold a 390fl for $9k above what I paid.

MHSRV is a wholesaler so you aren't going to get the highest price for your trade-in.

$108K for a 2012 is a pretty good price! Yes the dealership is going to re-sell your unit for a higher price than they gave you. If the dealerships couldn't make a profit off of selling your unit, they wouldn't take trade ins.
We all know RV's depreciate, none of us bought them as an investment! But to get what you want in the way of a new unit, sometimes you have to just take the best deal and move on. MHSRV offered us $14K MORE for our trade than a local dealership did. We figured it was worth the drive to TX.
Shop some other dealerships and see what they quote you for a trade in amount. Then you will have some comparison numbers to work with.
Mitch Bennett was our salesman at MHSRV, he said if we send him a buyer he would take $500.00 off the price of the RV they wanted to buy. Call and ask him, tell him 11157 Stevenson sent you. What have you got to lose?

Thank you for sharing your experience with MHSRV.

I'll be turning 50 in a very short time, so I've been around long enough to understand that businesses must make money to stay in business.
I also understand when the facts don't match on what someone tells me.
A salesman at MHSRV told me I should have came to him when I bought my 390FL because he could have sold it to me for around $120k.
Since I know I did a thorough search comparing everyone's price for the unit I wanted, I knew no one at that time had one listed online for around $120k.
After he told me this, I once more googled the 2012 390FL and saw 2 listings from MHSRV, one at $139k and one at $159k. Both had been sold within a month around the same time I bought mine.
Maybe this is not the standard way of doing business there, but it's what I experienced.
Btw, I've decided to keep my 390FL.
