Are you still going to try Towing without disconnecting the battery? I had a thought about that today. Think I'm going to keep call connected to the truck while towing. That way I can tell if there any strange noises back there.

Still up in the air in this one.... I'm thinking of throwing a disconnect switch on the negative side and tow it this weekend to see if I lose anything. If I don't I'll probably follow the instructions. If I do, I'll try it without disconnecting.

THat's what I'm going to do initially also.
At least until I have more understanding of how it all works.

They did a great job.
For that price did they wire the tail lights and power for the braking system also?
I don't even see the Breakaway switch.

Yes on the tail lights no on the braking system. I've never used one on the Cadillac and it weighed a little more than the truck. I know certain states require it and could bite me in the butt later on.

So hooked everything up and I'm at about a 4 inch difference in height between the Motorhome mounted tow bar and the truck mounted base plates(truck is higher). From what I've read they say 4 inches is the max separation and it's better to have the motorhome side lower because when you hit the brakes, the rear of the coach will raise up. So I'll tow it as is without using a drop hitch upside down.Click image for larger version

That was a great price since they also did the tail lights.

Others may be along shortly to give their opinion on not using a braking system. :-)

ME FIRST... ME FIRST!!!

It is also a insurance thing - you may want to check your TOAD/RV insurance policy about liability.

And whatever you do, don't even think of going into Canada without one (I checked into this since we are driving the AlCan in 2018)

Finally installed my Blue Ox stuff

LOL!!! Knew there'd be some kick back on that one... Ha ha... Nothing to do with insurance trust me on that! I've already made a claim on the toad one time because it was hit while traveling. The vehicle is not covered under the Motorhomes policy and you make the claims separate. Some states don't require it at all. Others do over a certain weight. The brakes on our Motorhomes stop the bus and vehicle with no issues at all! I've tested this theory plenty of times. I'm within all weight ratings of the motorhome so as long as I'm within them, insurance can't say anything. State may fine me if the police officer checks and tickets me but that's a separate fine.

Looks good!! Did you tow it also? If so, did you disconnect the battery?

No I didn't tow it. I was just checking the cables and testing the lights. I never left the storage building actually. I don't have my brake system connected yet. HaHa

LOL!! Got ya.... We're hitting the road for the Shenandoah's Thursday with the cart in the bed. I'll post on my towing experience with the new set up.

Camp ground we're going to requires proof of insurance for the golf cart! Never even knew I needed that!! So now it's insured for a whopping 5 extra dollars a month to my auto insurance policy. LOL!! Guess it's smarter to have it. Especially with teenagers that will most likely be driving it!! Ha ha!
