Follow up on slide topper roller covers

At great risk to life and limb, I climbed up on the ladder to get these pics.

Three are with the slide out the other two slide in. If you'll notice the two screws on the end cap, they mark the two ends of the new attached pieces (that cost me $1400) for all four slides. It roughly forms a semi-circle.

Hope this helps someone to decide on the options or not.

Thanks for risking your life to take these.

I'm hoping to order these and put them on myself to save a few $$.

You are both welcome...... Glad to have been able to help.

I think in picture number 4 you can just make out the edge of the cover where the fabric goes under it.

Boo. I need to get these as well. Do you happen to have a part number for these. I looked on the carefree website ad can't find them. I would like to call them and get it ordered. A part number would be great. Ken.

I do not have the P/N; sorry. I did talk to CareFree about another issue with my main awning and got GREAT customer service from a guy with this email address: sdopheide@carefreeofcolorado.com

My tech ordered mine for me. I'm not even sure where he got them, but I'd assume CareFree of CO.

If any of you do get them, I'd love to know what you got get them for. My tech took less than 10 minutes for each one; so I figure most of the $1400 was material. I'm certain my tech would not have screwed me on purpose, but maybe he didn't find the best possible supplier.

I know he said he cut HIS markup on them because of the extreme cost; he also said they had to be custom made.

FYI. I did the same upgrade on two 2008 39qs coaches. Believe it or not they both had different size toppers. Best bet is to go on the roof and measure the distance between end caps. I stumbled upon a deal for the parts at shade pro for $200 per topper no matter what the size. Free shipping if sent to a business address. Took 45 minutes to install and like Boo says it finishes out the coach. web site is below. Call and ask as it is not on their site. Got the parts in less than a week. Also came with all the mounting hardware.

ShadePro Inc.

I look at it as you getting the suspension upgrade from forest river for nothing. I wish I knew what you said to get that and as your wife said the coach looks so much better. Looks finished now.

Still waiting Mr. Houser to get back with me. Hopefully I'll be offered a similar fix.

JJ, what Iv'e noticed is that while FR customer is pretty willing to help with MANY things, even out of warranty.... They are S-L-O-O-O-O-W to respond.

PM coming your way.

On the topper awning this is what came on my 2011. I had read about the unfurling issue and the dealer said they all come with covers and do not need locks on them.

Shoot - sent too soon... Are we talking about the end pieces that are being shown in the pictures??? If so, then mine came with those and one still unfurled...

I thought we were talking about an actual cover - full cover that covers the material... Those would actually prevent the issue completely...

i thought we were talking about the top cover. not the end caps.

on my unit, the bottom deflector shield and 2 end caps came as standard. i am missing the top cover.

boowho's pics shows his add on top covers. those would prevent billowing.

Driving across souther utah yesterday we had high winds. I experienced my first slide topper billowing. It was not a fun experience. This was my first incident in 20k miles. Once I get back home these toppers will be the first thing I look for. It's a shame this is not standard equipment.
