Found this under my bed????

Berkshire 390QS. Lifted the bed and this contraption was under it.

FYI: better check the bolts under there.... They tend to loosen and allow the slide gears to slip down and you can't work the bed slide.... Trust me - I know !!!!

Definitely check them, our slide actuator sheared its bolts off and had to be totally disassembled to get the slide back in. Not fun to do with no AC hooked up in NC summer heat/humidity. That was on our maiden trip last August.

I've tightened mine at least 5 times, made several "mods" and the damn thing still slips. It's a POS mechanism, IMHO.

I would replace the nuts with Nylock then no more tightening required. There are different types of nuts, some with the nylon insert in the middle and. Ore common with Nylock on the end.

Simple do you want your bedroom slide to work, well this is the motor to make that happen.

Somewhere in another thread, I submitted some drawings on a mod I've come up with that that SHOULD cure the problem permanently.

I've yet to implement the fix myself (to damn lazy, I guess), but have a lot of confidence it would be a PERMANENT fix.

If I can find that post I'll re-post here.

Near your bed, there should be a slot to insert a quarter. After inserting, the bed then vibrates for you and your significant other.

Yes, that is the post....Thank you for finding it; I searched last night and could not....

I (being lazy) have not implemented the the design yet..... But next time it slips, I will. I'm damn near certain that would fix the problem once and for all.

Sorry to disagree, but they loosen and then slip. They are bolts and not nuts. If you torque them down too much you will strip the soft aluminum gear housing.

I just had the problem for the third time while on a trip. I raised the motor tightened up the bolts with blue Loctite and upon getting back over 1,400 miles it was okay, but I noted the top two bolts where looser then when I left them.

Just yesterday, I decided to support the motor and gear housing as Silver did on 03/06/2015 (see prior post). Instead of the fancy support, I used a block of wood with some shims (see attached photos). Will have to see if that works! I also cut off part of the bed's shroud-cover to make getting to the mechanism a lot more easy.

Here is my theory (which may be all wet): The designers of a lot of things for the RV may have done a good job for stationary, non moving operation. However, they didn't take into account operation with a lot of vibration and external forces. The bed's drive gear doesn't decide on its own to come down. I feel that when driving down the road at 60 mph (or so), hitting bumps after bumps, the cantilevered gearhead and motor is yanking like a pry bar up and down on the four bolts. Since the bolt threads are course and not fine, this constant up and down motion cause the bolts to walk out - IMHO.

Well, here is my fix, which still needs to be proven:
