Fraying slide out cable

Looks like I'm going to have to replace one of the accuslide cables. I changed one one my old Damon and it wasn't a huge challenge. I wonder how many cycles I have left before it breaks. I'd rather be home to fix it

Must be the wardrobe slide, would just leave it in until you have the new cable and can fix.

This is why I don't really like the cable systems. I had to change one on my '08 and it was a real hassle. Took me several hours to do and it was, of course, a hot day and I didn't have the AC on. Well, at least I sweated off a couple of pounds.

I will just leave it in if you can get around the bed with the opposing slot open.
We did that for a couple months and I our 390 RB.

Had mine replaced last year. I don't think it was too big of deal. The kit comes with video to change it. I had the dealer do it however cause I didn't have the time to figure out how to get the wood trim work off without wrecking it to access the cables. I think they only charged me like an hour and a bit for labour. It was less than $200 and I supplied the kit ($30).

We are doubling up on the washing machine cause when I close it, DW will not have access to the washer. I know it's not supposed to, but can it function with a snapped cable? I can get a kit on the internet. Does camping world stock them?

I'm a full believer in "Murphy!" It will snap when you don't want it to and could cause more damage or even hurt someone...
Questions...
How old is it?
You discovered the damage, but what is the cause?
Was the cable damaged by something or is there that much stress on it?
Is I it due to not having accomplished periodic maintenance?
What do the other cables look like?

Don't put it off... I'd get everything in the system checked/serviced while your there.

I was told that if the cables are not aligned correctly, that is what will cause it to wear. This was told to me by a NORCO (manufacturer) technician when they replaced a cable on my coach. Really no maintenance that needs to be done on these cables.

Funny that this topic came up today because I'm having my coach detailed on site today in Tennessee and the detailer told me that one of the cables was off (upper back) on my wardrobe slide ('14 390 FL) Looks like there is a rubber piece to keep it in the keyed slot that is missing. Will check more closely later.
