Front step

I am having an issue closing my front step, usually it closes when the motorhome is placed into drive. Is theier an manual way to close it?

It should close automatically when you close the door. If you want to keep the step closed when stopped and the door is open, you can put a magnetic over the plastic cap that is on the door jamb at the bottom left of the jamb looking into the coach from the outside.

That's the problem, I cannot get it to close.

Have you lubricated the steps mechanism lately? Also, are the fuses all OK? Just thinking out loud here. Also, it could be the magnetic pickup that I spoke about is bad.

My camper the power has be on or stayed pluged in on 20 amp to close step if power is off step will not go in.My camper is 2011 378 Island kitchen. First thing check power in breaker box.

There's a switch on the panel at the door that keeps the steps from retacting. I use it when I'm at camp to keep them from retracting evertime the door is open and closed. Have you tried changing the switch position?

Putting it in drive should override all switches. Mine has done what yours is doing Billygo, but before I could "do" anything about it, it retracted on its own. It's done that a few times. I have no remedy since I don't know why its failing.

I have had no issues with my Berkshire, but on my last Damon I had a stuck step. The motor is one similar to a power window. My first step was to get under the step(well clear of the path of the retracting step) with a rubber mallet, and tap the mechanism with the door closed. I had my daughter open and close the door, and after a few taps, the steps retracted.
