Frozen Lock

Hello All: Just checking in on this first:

I found the top lock (Trimark deadbolt) frozen today - the key would not even go into the lock. Sprayed in some de-icer fluid but that only allowed the key to go in part way. Planning on using a hair dryer to heat it up - hopefully that will solve the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, are there any other considerations to prevent possible damage?

Maybe heat the key first, and then maybe dip into RV antifreeze? Seems a hot key would work, but may refreeze in the lock...

Treat it like a car door lock. As the OP stated, heat the key and give it a try. The deicer spray should be used immediately afterward OR WD-40 to eliminate the water it will leave. Good Luck.

i have found out ,, if you use grafite on the key and lock before winter stets in it will keep the lock free and easy to use after you get the ice off of the outside of the lock
