Gas backsplash on jeep wrangler

For those of you with jeep toads, do you have a problem letting the gas nozzle shut itself down while filling and get a nice amount of backsplash from the tank? The nozzle does not fit all the way into the filler tube no matter how I turn it (I didn't try upside down yet). It makes a mess of the side of the Jeep and the ground.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Crunch, looks like the GM hose fix is the way to go and until I get that installed I'll just watch the gauge and be careful when filling.

There's not really a recall on this but if you contact a dealer the parts for the fix are free.

I have a 2014 Wrangler and haven't heard of the issue. I do not have a issue filling but when the pump shuts off that's it. No topping the tank. I tried it once and wore gas the rest of the day.

No, I let the pump shut itself off, I did not try to "top" it off. And it is very well documented, maybe on your 2014 it is already fixed from factory.

I haven't had this problem either. I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

I Googled it like crunchman suggested and it has been an issue that even Chrysler replaced some tanks starting with 2007 but refused to handle 2015 and 2006 for some reason they fabricated according to blogs

I also have a 2014 with no issues. I thought the designs were unchanged but not sure.
