gas regulator

Ok, camping this weekend and turn on the gas at the lp tank. I hear the gas running, which is abnormal. The only thing that I need gas for is the water heater (Girard). I take the cover off of the regulator and smell gas. I run my finger around the regulator and find the leak at the bottom of the regulator on the seam. This is the second regulator that has gone bad on me. First one a couple of months after I bought coach and the dealer replaced. I've got a spare camco, but will wait until I get home to change it. Has anyone else experienced these failures?

I haven't experienced it, but I read about it. I would search for a Fisher regulator. Not cheap but good.

That's what they do

Yes. I went thru several before I finally got one that lasts. I also started opening the valve very slowly just cracking it until I hear the diaphragm pressurize.

Same as the original. Cavagna. Used one Camco and it didn't last very long either.

Thanks. Got a camco as a spare and was going to put it on, but may now try another brand.

I'm on my 3rd, so far so good. The first (Camco) was a blown diaphragm probably from filling the tank. The second (Camco) leaked at the bottom seam of the regulator, the one I have now (Fisher) so far so good! I've had this one for about 6 months and have had no problems.
Good luck

OK, I'm not feeling as bad now. My first two were leaking at the seams. May look at a fisher for number three and keep the camco as a spare. Not only lost the reg, but also 1/4 tank lp.

I have had mine for three years now. It makes me wonder why all the failures. Could it be that some type of debris was in some of the LP tanks? I just have never seen so many reported failures.

It does make you wonder, Phil. Especially since these are not all the same brand that are failing.

I would imagine that they know about at least the first one on most of us if it was replaced under warranty. Mine was. Don't really think that this is a problem exclusive to Forest River, however.
