GCWR and TOAD Capability

I have a 2011 Berk 390QS, 340 Cummings, 2500 Allision and I am looking for the Gross Combination Weight Ratio (GCWR) which would be the maximum weight for the coach and TOAD combination.

It is not on any of the coach stickers. Sent an email to Randy at FR and he told me that my front axle is rated at 12k and my rear axle is rated at 17,500k.

I've asked him for some further clarification and am awaiting further correspondence.

Anyone??????

Have you had the front axle upgrade?

No....went back to factory for airbag and tire upgrades because they mistakenly put ceramic flooring in during the build and didn't have the appropriate bags and tires.

Then you have a 10400 lb front axle.
FA 10400
DA 17500
Toad 5000
32900
If you had the FA upgrade you still would be limited to 33000 because of the 2500 transmission.

Your hitch is rated at 5000 lbs due to the Allison 2500 transmission.

may not be info you need but the Dinghy Towing Guide can give you TOAD weights along with which cars can be flat towed.
Just google Dinghy Towing Guide. Various years will come up (2016, 2015, 2014 etc).

GCWR and TOAD Capability

As everyone else has been stating, the 340's are limited to 33K due to the Allison 2500. Just an FYI, the specs also state that the 340's are limited to 5k of towing but they do have a 10K hitch on them. There is no difference between the hitches on the 340's and 360's. With that being said, if you keep the weight down on your GVWR of the coach, then essentially you could go over a little on the toad as long as you do not go over the 33k of the transmission limit.

So with what Randy sent you, your coach can handle 29500 leaving 3500 for a toad. Obviously your probably not maxed out at 29500 so I'd weigh the coach with everything in it and see where you're at and then subtract that from 33,000 and it will give you the max amount of weight for your toad.

My coach fully loaded weighed about 27,500. That leaves me about 5,500 for a toad before I go over the GCWR of 33K

I will repeat this as I feel it's important. If you have not gotten the upgrade and have 255 tires your front axle is 10400 lbs NOT 12000. I believe all 2011 came with tile floors.

Very true! Sorry if I confused anyone. I saw he stated that he had the upgrade done to the bags and tires so was posting about that. Good point and thanks for reiterating the information.

The GCWR is 33.000 lbs max because of the limit of the Allison 2500MH tranny. If one was to have the coach loaded at 28,000 LBs, then the full 5k rating of the hitch can be used.

I have a 2012 340 with all the stickers. Before the tire/airbag upgrade, the front axle was rated at 10,410 lbs and rear at 17,500 lbs. That totals 27,910, which then subtracting from the 33,000 lbs GCWR Allison limit leaves 5,090lbs. With the tire/airbag upgrade, the front axle goes up to 12,000lb; which mean that you can carry more, but with more in the moho means less to tow.

The hitch rating should not solely be used for what can be towed!!!!

I suggest to the OP and everyone to get their moho and toad weighed.
