Generator

I noticed that onan of Elkhart recommends using oil filter 122-0833 for our gen set. I have a 2012 390bh. I ordered it because they said the normal filter 185-7444 is just for the break in period then we should switch. The new filter is much longer and I couldn't get it to fit in the small area. Has anyone else heard of this or am I missing something here??

I went to Cummins/Onan here in Houston and bought the filter set for my 2010 390bh. Oil:185-7444, Air:140-2897, Fuel:0147-0860. No mention was made of the other oil filter.

This is the email i got when I asked( below). The filter is twice as long and won't fit. I will try to call the tech line tomorrow to see if this is a error. I just went to a local kubota dealer and got the correct one to fit for now.

Ken,
Yes it is the correct filter. The 185-7444 is a smaller filter because it is only to be used during the break in period, the first 50 hours. the 122-0833 is larger as it is to be changed every 100 - 150 hours. Ours apologizies for the delayed response.

No, I ended up getting the "normal" one and put it on. Do you have the short one or the longer one on your generator? I am beginning to think I got bad information from the dealer.

The problem is it was from a cummins dealer. Go figure.

Ken
I think Cummins and Onan are the same company. I had some generator work done last year and am pretty sure.

Question. Yesterday got in our 2014 Berk after it had been sitting
for approximately two weeks in above freezing temps. I made sure to shut everything down but only switched off the batteries right inside the main door with that single toggle switch. Well when I went to turn it back on. Nothing. No light no power no anything. At first when I went to start the gen it was dead also. So I started the coach motor and after 10 min I was able to start the gen but it stalled after 10 seconds or so. I had to do this three times before it kept running. Any thought as to why it would start and cut off for why after such a short period of time it seems like that toggle shut off switch was dead?

Did the light on the switch blink when it died, indicating an error code?

I've had this happen before when the coach batteries are dead and the error indicated that the ECU on the generator shut down due to low voltage.
