What kind of generator, your manual should have recommendations. I think it is the same used for engine. Skip

If your generator has a radiator then it should have antifreeze in it already. Most generators I've seen on RV's are air cooled and don't need AF. Just the largest kilowatt generators will have a radiator and they are most likely too large to be on a RV.

The Berks (this is a Berk forum) have the Onan QD's which are liquid cooled. There was anti freeze in it from the factory. If it's more than a few years old a test strip to check on it is in order. If it's more than 5 years old a refresh wouldn't hurt. There's an expansion tank where you should be checking the level on a regular basis. When in doubt, consult the manual. The following video is very informative:

It varies. The smaller units are 6KW, the larger buses can have as much as 10KW

I'll bow out now as it seems that a lot of Class A owners don't think those with lesser types of RV's should have an opinion even though many of the same componets are used in all types of RV's. Though having hydraulic experience, I have helped some in the CG who had problems with their levelers.

Nah, you're putting words in my mouth. It's not a matter of lesser. I've had TT's, Fiver, truck camper, it's all good. And on GENERAL fora I'll happily converse with everyone.

The point is that this is a Berkshire forum where Berkshire owners can come to efficiently communicate about THEIR units.

It would be the same as me going to the Fiver forum and interjecting how it works on my Bus when someone asks fellow Fiver owners about their unit.

It clutters up the forum, and adds to the already plentiful confusion. I've seen threads full of non pertinent answers to specific questions.

This is what general fora are for.

Nothing to do with the elitism you infer.

Easy guy...... As the OP, I don't really care what the rig happens to be - if it's got a generator in it then I'm interested...

I have the same unit and same year. It is a Generic 7500 in a tan enclose. The antifreeze is green so I assumed it was Preston 50/50 mix. After ten years I would change it. I had to disconnect the lower hose to drain mine. I was able to get to it from the lower hatch, not the oil change hatch. I have been flushing mine every four years as Generic is out of the RV business I worry about getting major repairs such as a rotted radiator.

I don't ow a Berkshire and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn last night but one word of advise. Make sure you use the correct brand of antifreeze and don't put a silicate type antifreeze if it does not call for it. Also correct mixture is important.

Checking the temperature rating is important, but the antifreeze should be changed every 5 years. Like Cummings says for the coach motor.
