Getting close to trip to Gaffney.......

Well, I spent the weekend getting the Berk ready for my trip to Gaffney via Louisville KY. Finally got around to doing the LED light mod for the handle at the entry door.

I also confirmed the conditions for the leak in the water bay. It must be somewhere behind the manifolds. The tanks themselves aren't leaking because I can fill with water and it stays there without a problem. However, if I turn the pump on or hook up to city water and there is pressure in the lines, the water begins to appear. I guess until I get to Goshen, we will use the pump by turning it on only when water is needed, and then immediately turning it off. Bummer.

I also replaced the headlight bulb. That was easy.

So, I'm thinking of arriving at Gaffney a day early. I have service scheduled and will be allowed to use one of the sites at Freightliner.
Does anyone that's been there know if their sites are full hookup? If not, do they have a dumping station?

Thanks,
Ken

The sites are electric only (50 amp). At the entry to the sites there is a dump station with potable water. You do not have to check in for a site; just pick one that does not have a save or reserved sign (cannot remember) on the site number. There are outlet stores, just a few miles south.

X2 on the parking situation.

If you have time, drive over and take a tour of the F-Liner assembly line.

The camping area is not gated.

To my knowledge, the factory tour is only open on week days.

Gaffney Visit

I can tell you that the best investment of two days was enrolling in the Camp Freightliner program about two years ago. I would suggest that anyone who goes to Gaffney check out the course ( or on-line for that matter) and enroll for a future class.--LONG leads times to enroll and mostly fill up by Jan/Feb of the same year. Going to Gaffney in the Fall to get service for the Berk and will enroll for a second course in '16.

If you get there in time sign up for the Camp Freightliner, two days of learning about your chassis and all the stuff associated with it. Usually a Tuesday Wednesday and a Thursday Friday. Classes are customarily full but they'll make room for folks there for service.
Whatever you do, don't, i say again, DON'T eat at "Harold's" made famous by the Food Network. It is HORRIBLE! The wife and I were in Gaffney in early June for service and went to Harold's; BIG mistake!
