Good News Bad News
I took my 2011 Berkshire 390RB in to the Dealer this week to have a few warrenty items taken care of. I decided to have them also winterize it as this is the first year of owning a MH and was not sure how to do it. We had a new grandson born on Tuesday very early and just didnt feel like messing with it.
Well Tom from Terry Town in Grand Rapids Mi called to let me know they were done but have found a big issue with the roof. Long store short the fiberglass on the roof has failed and has ripples in it. Tom sent pictures to Randy at Forest River and Randy had them but some sealant on it and wanted me to call him. As it turns out there is a issue with the fiberglass used on some of the 2011 Berkshires and the roof will need to be replaced. I know some that have had this done and I know FR will take care of it.
Dealers get pounded a lot on forums and when you find a good one I like to let everyone know. Terry Town found the issue on a routine winterize that includes a full inspection. For The hundred bucks they will be doing mine as lo g as I own my MH.
By the way the baby was 4lb 10oz 16" A real cute little guy and is doing great.

Thanks Oakman.
If anyone has had the roof replaced on their MH please let me know how it has held up. Positive's and negatives . Also how much of the MH had to be painted.

We had ours replaced. Found out there is two ways that it can be done. Completely remove the roof, sand down the plywood, make is smooth and install a new one piece roof. The other way is to cut off all ripples, fill in to make level and place new roof on top of old one. We went with our dealers recommendation and had the entire roof removed and new one put on. Our dealer said the factory repair would be the second method. it all comes down to whom you trust more, the dealer or FR to do the repairs. PM us if you want more information.

X2!! Congrats on the new addition. If at all possible, you should try to take it to the factory and have them do it. They know exactly how it is put together and how to take it apart.
Good luck with both (new grandson and roof repair).

Factory team is great, we had some work done there and it included fixing a fiberglass defect on the bottom of our main slide. They also took care of other minor issues while I was there along with a tour. Best of luck and congrats on the grand baby.

Phil and Dianna
Thanks for the heads up, we too own 2011 Berkshire 390 RB so we will check this out. As for Terry Town in Grand Rapids I agree, it is a great Dealership, being from Calgary I had enquired them for the supply of our 2011 Berkshire 390 RB and ultimately decided to purchase from our Local Berkshire dealer, big mistake. We have had nothing but problems in getting the local dealer to do warranty repairs. This summer as we were going through the US we needed some emergency repair adjustments, as it happens we were near Grand Rapids so we went to Terry Town. They immediately took us in, helped us and got us on the road without issue and there was no charge. I believe we will again go through Grand Rapids and time some service there.
Congratulations on the birth of your Granchild, from personal experience they are more fun than your own kids, enjoy them.
