Heat Pump

We have a Berkshire 2011 410qs. Today was a little warm so we turned on the Dometic heat pump to cool the rig down. The back unit worked wonderfully, the front not so much. Checked the breakers, what else can we do? We have never used the air conditioners before. Thanks

In order to run two, you must have 50 amp service, and be plugged in to 50 amp, no adapters. Also, only one will have a wall thermostat, usually. The other one will have the controls mounted in the ceiling panel, usually. Make sure it is set to cool, and the thermostat on cold.

We are plugged into 50 amp and have a wall mount dual thermostat. The thermostat has a setting for the front and rear units. Both are set for cool and the temp we want. The rear unit works great. The unit in the front of the coach puts out luke warm air... Will check it all again tomorrow.. Any other thoughts are welcome.

If the thermostat for units 1 and 2 are set to cool, you should be getting cold air from both units. Make sure that when your thermostat is on 1 that it is on cool and adjust the temperature lower than the rear unit. Give it a few minutes for the compressor to kick in. If you don't get cold air from the front(and you hear the compressor kick in), you many have developed a leak in that unit and it lost its freon charge.

I don't think that the compressor is kicking in. When I shut the unit off I don't hear that wooshing sound that the back unit makes. When I turn it on I don't hear the compressor working either.. just the fan working.

Sorry to hear that the compressor is bad but very happy for you that it is being replaced under warranty.

Hope you have a great summer of camping with your Berkshire!!

As you can see above we started this process around the 3RD of March...1 month ago. Just got heat pump/air conditioner fixed today...wow only 1 month to get it fixed. LOL I guess that's all anyone can do. Between McMahons in Palm Desert and Dometic...what a joke... Got it replaced in Mesa, AZ at McMahons at least there it only took 1 day instead of 1 month..Now the weather is going to cool off, go figure..HA-HA It was repaired at no charge by Dometic.
