Help, no power to Safe T Alert propane detector
2011 Berkshire 390qs. I have no power to the propane detector which in turn shuts the solenoid to the tank. Manual says there is a 5amp inline fuse somewhere.
Any ideas?

No idea.... but pull the panel out of the wall and take a peek there. Then look in compartments below..... Also look in compartment under driver's window. There's quite a few in line fuses I have no idea what they do.
Also, the reason that it has an in-line fuse is because it is, I believe, wired so you can't shut it off with the battery switch.... so look below where any direct take-off may be.
Meanwhile you can run temporary power to it to get the solenoid open.

I'm not familiar with your lp detector but if it is the combo CO/LP detector they have a life span of 5 years. They are supposed to chirp every minute or so but I've heard where some just shut down. Since your Berk is 8 yrs old I think it's time for a new one.

That looks like a VERY viable candidate! Nice of FR to label that and/or have a picture and directions in the manual like everything else.....

Well... yes. But you give it the benefit of the doubt and say it was old and tired. Replace it and...... if it does it again.... then we officially have a problem.
Sawmill, glad you got it figured out.....

If a replacement fuse immediately blows, the likely culprit is a shorted solenoid coil. You can verify this by disconnecting the solenoid power line behind the detector. Safe-t-Alert does not sell replacement solenoids; you need to purchase the replacement kit which includes the detector and solenoid. It's also possible that a kit replacement will have a solenoid with different sized fittings on it. Hopefully, if you order a replacement from FR, you'll get one with the correct fittings.
I know this because the solenoid failed this way in my 2011 Georgetown after two years. I ran into these issues getting a replacement at an independent service center. This past Summer, the solenoid again failed. I was able to locate a replacement on the web and replaced it myself. I wouldn't recommend a DIY repair unless you're comfortable working on propane or natural gas lines.

My daughter opened the fridge after the trip and a bottle of juice fell out and burst opened spilling half of its content inside this detector.
It started to smell with burnt wiring so I pulled it out and had a pleasure watching the contacts on circuit board slowly melting. The dot on the copper was so bright I thought it was another LED until I realized that it is smoking and moving.
It was about a year overdue for replacement anyway but I had to jerry rig the system for cooking and hot water until the replacement arrives.
Of course the fuse was also gone, could also be me trying to figure which wires I need to connect to get the solenoid open.
I could not find the fuse either so I was about to pull solenoid and call FR after new years because it was neither behind the panel nor next to the solenoid.
Thank you for posting the picture, it was exactly next the inverter. I connected red to striped yellow/red wire and capped the white and propane is flowing.
Will have to get some 5 amp fuses

BTW, you can buy solenoids separately. Just get the markings and google. I saw it for sale for about $50 bucks
