My door has been coming loose on the last few trips. The two screws that hold it on come loose. The end of the last trip it was about to fall off.

NO3putt - I've noticed in heavy winds, the door rattles enough that over time, the twist lock vibrates around - but I've never had it completely swivel. It will not happen again, I added a little twist tie to the latch.

Jrlebaron - great idea - with pics of the cans, I'll do some more looking!

Thanks for the reply, will make sure to keep the little tab flat and may put a little clip on it.

I think mine came off due to my own fault. I probably didn't have it fastened completely. "Operator Error" in my case.

Home Depot in the section they sell velcro and other clips has rubber coated "twist-ties" in various lengths. I've used the long ones for years with rolls of coax, electric cords etc. They have some that are just a couple inches long - I threaded that throughout the twist lock - can not blow off again and at about $1.50...

J my BnL didn't have any luck with those codes. He's still gonna try to find the colors for them.

Cajun - thanks for trying...

jrlebaron - I've sent the paint codes to about half-a-dozen web sites that mix paint and put into spray can applications. Have not heard from any of them yet. Thanks for the advice and suggestion.

My tab that holds the cover on broke while at the dealer. It was plastic and they replaced it with a metal one. They said that the plastic ones are not good. As a precaution to all, check whether the heater door tab is plastic or metal. X2 to the additional safety tie or paper clip.

The little spring loaded tab lock on the Berk water heater cover is a joke. Luckily mine broke off in my hand while the unit was stationary ... I still have my cover.

Rather than attempting to replace the spring loaded gizmo, I fed a bolt through from the inside. Locked it in place with a nut ... leaving only about 1/4 inch of the bolt sticking out past the cover. I then secure the cover in place with a felt backed rubber washer and a wing nut. It work like a charm.

This will not bring back your lost covers but it will prevent then being lost a second time.
