Help with paint - just lost water heater cover

We lost our water heater cover sometime this past week while on the road in Illinois during some terrible rain and winds. We were able to purchase a replacement suburban cover while on our trip - but it is GLOW IN THE DARK WHITE! I'll need to paint this cover now and am having little luck matching the paint. Ernest sent the codes - we have the same silver - gray - black paint scheme, but none of the four body/paint shops I stopped at in Albuquerque understand the codes. Originally, I was just wanting some touch up paint. Now I'll need a little more. Someone else posted a picture of a paint sticker in their door jam - unfortunately, I don't have one. I was able to find the silver - it is actually a Hyundai color. I bought a tough up pen and it is spot on. My worry now is for the black and gray colors. Can anyone provide an "equivalent" code to order?

Thanks!

My BnL owns a body shop. I can show him my touch up colors. He may be able to give me some codes. It won't be till Monday though.

Same thing happened to me. I have learned to live with the white one FR sent me. After a while you won't even notice it. That what I keep telling myself anyway.

Campin Cajun - thanks, that would be a big help. While I have always found the folks at Forest River extremely helpful, asking for paint information seems a touchy subject - like Colonel Sanders recipe!

grt1014 - that's funny! There must be nuclear molecules in the paint. It is the brightest white I've ever seen in my life. I'm going to look at it tonight in the dark just to see if it glows...

Here are the color numbers:

Dark grey - 594736
Lt grey - 631124
Blk - 23145

Diamont brand paint

Of course you'll need the hardener, clearcoat, etc....

Really not a difficult thing to do..... If I can do it, anyone can.... lol....

I have seen Ernest's paint job first hand, and it is right on.

Ernest - those are the codes you sent me a few months ago. I took them to some auto body shops and none of them could figure out the numbers. They all seemed to be clear on the Diamond brand but I ended up not being able to find a shop.

Campin Cajun - are these the same codes you had or did you use a different brand?

Ernest - your cover came out as good as your freezer install! If your cover comes up missing, don't make a trip to Albuquerque!

I'm honestly surprised, since our pattern is exactly the same, that Forest River did not have a few spares made...

Uh.....I just realized my colors are not the same as both of y'alls.

Sorry bout that. But I can still take the codes posted to my BnL to see if he can come up with something.

Thanks Ernest - maybe "showing" them will help. Plus - this gives a reason to buy a paint spray gun!!!

You'll have to make a YouTube tutorial for me Ernest! I've never painted anything except walls inside a house.

Cajun - if it's not too much trouble, I'd be curious to see what he comes up with.

Just wondering, what causes them to come off? Does the little chain hook break or something.
