If camping in the woods, a separate may be your best bet anyway, because you can move the dish around to get signal. Most systems are not built to do both Dish and Directtv, but cannot answer your question with any certainly. I use a Wingard portable dish and can get the 110, 119, 129 satellites or the lower band also if trees cover either up to give better chance of signal.

Yes, can be done, but, the dish must be replaced. Had it done to our 2017 Berk XL by the guy that services the motorhomes at Motor Home Specialist in TX. The dish and LNA's have to be replaced. The base that mounts to the roof of the motorhome does not have to be changed. Is a bolt on change. About $400, as I recall. You will be converting your DirecTV SK-SWM3 to a DISH SK-1000. I found a few websites, via Google that describe the conversion. Conversion kits are available, if you wish to do it yourself.

As the monthly charge to add the Wally to the home account is $7/month, I recovered the cost of the modification after about 8 months. And the Wally receiver can be added and removed (to avoid the $7 charge) in the off season via a phone call to DISH.

Marty is correct. I did mine myself. The instructions that came along with the parts are not bad. Just takes some time to read through the programming of the controller.

There ya go. I learnt something. I've had dishes where it was a matter of dip switches. This is more involved. Glad I had direct TV.

Sorry to be a little direct. Frustrated with another thread where everyone is talking at the same time and no one is listening to the guy that has taken the stuff apart and knows how it's put together.

My winegard is basically a 500 dish and has an internal switch to allow it to work on Direct (by default) Dishnet and Hughesnet. Don’t know what dish you have.

See that's what I thought mine did too.

I doubt you can select DirecTV OR DishTV via a simple switch as a different dish and a different LNA set is required.

It appears you are correct. I know for a fact that I had an antenna on a previous unit that was changeable with dip-switches. That was a totally different unit. Guess it all depends on what you have on the roof.

Here's what seems to be a pretty good writeup on what looks like what we have on our roof.

Correction: my Winegard carry out is a G-1518 model and is compatible with DirectTV, Dish Network and Bell TV, not Hughes... switchable. I get HD with Dish.

Ok, so I have successfully made the swap from the direct tv swm3 to the Dish sk1000 and have the programming complete, its connecting to all 3 satellites. Next issue: how do I connect my Wally and the tvs? So I have 3 coax cables coming into the top right cabinet- 2 black and 1 grey, I'm assuming the grey is my signal in from the satellite, I can connect it to the Wally, there's no coax out connectors on the Wally, but I have 2 black coax cables marked satellite 1 and satellite 2. I am also assuming I won't be using the direct tv splitter that is in that cabinet with dish?? It's what the 2 black coax cables were hooked to.
I'm at a loss as to what to do next..... any input is greatly appreciated! I called winegard 3 times today and missed all their return phone calls......[emoji848]

And also, there is a coax connector on the side wall in the cabinet marked KING with an on/off button, what's the purpose of this? There's is another in the cabinet with the DVD player and tv switch box.

We have the same thing in the upper right overhead cabinet. You can hardly see it, but on our is cables down to the cabinet above the fireplace that has the DVD player, satellite receiver, and switch box that sends the signal to all three tv units. Yours probably is placed elsewhere, but I’m betting there is another switcher there.
I believe the other is the amp for the tv antenna.

I have 3 cables / a grey and 2 blacks -all coax, my Dish Wally only has 1 coax for the signal in! So how do I connect the receiver to the switch box? What are these other 2 black coax cables?? If they goto the switch box, how do I connect my Wally that doesn't have any coax outlets, only an hdmi port...

My 2 Cents:

I have Direct TV in my Berk XL. The grey cable comes from the dish on the roof. The Sat 1 and Sat 2 go to the entertainment centers in the main living room, and bedroom. Those are the black COAX. With DTV there is a multiswitch.

Looks like you got the wineguard hardware (dish) on the roof changed out from DTV to DISH. Now you need to find out what to do with the feed from the COAX for DISH. The cabling you have now is the cabling for DTV with a two receiver system. Won't be a wineguard issue, more of a DISH configuration. Should be same as a residential install, with more than one receiver. If you are only using 1 receiver, it might work with a COAX Coupler joining the grey COAX to SAT1 if your receiver is going in main TV or SAT2 if it is going in bedroom.

As for the KING COAX, that is for your OTA Antenna. Probably installed over the driver's seat. Behind your HDMI switch, there is a selector switch which powers the antenna, so you can get OTA on the TVs. There is COAX running from a splitter to all of the TVs.
