How do I get reimbursement from FR for a warranty repair?

I had a mobile RV service come out and put an Extend a stay on my Berk 390RB and when he did he sprayed the propane regulator with soap and it started bubbling so he replaced the regulator. The coach is still under warranty so no big deal but how do I get FR to reimburse me for the part and labor to replace it? I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

marcusfan,
I would send an email to Randy Houser (rhouser@forestriverinc.com). He is the warranty manager for FR Diesel products. He should be able to tell you how to go about getting your refund.

generally you have to ask them first as they usually want proof before the work is done.

I still have the regulator I could send to them so they could test it themselves to see that it's leaking. I understand about asking first but I don't think it's really safe to allow propane to just continue to leak. Not to mention the cost of the propane. I guess if they won't reimburse me then I will just eat the cost of it myself.

yep, you're supposed to get pre-approval for the work, to get the reimbursement.

I once had a thermostat replaced at a dealer that for some reason, didn't have a contract or whatever with Forest River, thus, I had to apply for reimbursement (I was still under warranty). I shipped the part, wrote a very long and detailed letter to Forest River, and got the reimbursement in three weeks. I also called every couple days to "check status." It helps to be a "squeaky wheel."

Just write a very professional letter, use good grammar and whatever. Email may work, but I prefer the letter route.

We'll live and learn I guess. Still seems to me that something like propane leaking when I need hot water means time is of the essence. I'll email Randy and if they won't cover life goes on and the leak is fixed and I'm still a happy camper.

My money is on Randy AT LEAST paying for the part; possibly not the labor.

He has done that for me on several occasions, even though I bought the coach "slightly" used.

Boowho??

It was definitely the regulator, not the fitting. You could see where the two pieces of of metal come together it was bubbling when he sprayed the soap on there.
