I usually get about 2000 to 2500 per half a tank of DEF. Once I hit half, I top it off. Mine is a 2014 and I just hit 6500 miles and topped it off twice now and almost ready to top it off again.

I figure I could go at least once across the US.
Far enough I don't worry about carrying any for emergency.

Its easily 3000 miles. I top it off whenever i can because, like you said, the truck stops are not always easy. I have yet to find one with the def pump on the passenger side where our tanks are. They always have it on the driver side, which leave us to swing around and pull in backwards. Not to easy in a crowded truck stop.

Mbh818, I use a orange road cone and stick it behind a truck with no other trucks in line. Beats waiting for them to figure out what I'm trying to do going in backwards.

I was at a Flying J last week and went around to pull into a truck fuel lane going in the opposite direction. A Flying J attendant came over and asked what I was doing. When I told him I needed to get DEF, he put an orange barrel in front of one of the fuel lanes. I then pulled in, going opposite to the 'normal' traffic flow and filled my DEF tank. I also needed air in one of my tires and the air hose reel kept pulling back trying to rewind the hose. This attendant came over and held the reel for me so that I could put air in my tire. He was extremely friendly and helpful. And yes, I did give him a few bucks for a tip.

I agree with everyone else, you will get between 3000 and 5000 miles on one tank of DEF.

When I am at a truck stop that has DEF I just pull up to where my DEF tank is even with the pump on the PS and use that pump to fill my tank. The hose is long enough to pull out and reach the DEF tank.

DEF usage is around 2 gallons of DEF for every 100 gallons of diesel.

I think it's a 15 gallon tank, so how far can you get on 700 gallons of diesel?

Around 7000 miles for me. I still fill at about 1/2 tank though.

Boowho??

Have any of you guys found an easy way to fill the tank with store bought def? It's really tight in that compartment. I bought a 2.7 gallon def container and spout from 5 star DEF. I still had to modify it with a longer hose so that I could hold it outside of the compartment to give it enough pressure to get it into the tank. Also, remember that DEF has an expiration date so it must be rotated in storage.

I've used the ones from Walmart. I started with the container outside the compartment, once no more DEF was pouring out I turned the container upside down and pushed it inside the compartment right above and a little to the side of the DEF tank. It worked well and I didn't spill anything.

You can get the same DEF at Tractor Supply for about $2.00 less than Walmart
