Hurricane Irene left me this surprise. A friend & myself began dissecting the tree with a chainsaw limb by limb until we could lift the tree enough to prop a ladder underneath it. Luckily there was only surface scratches to the sidewall.

Glad to hear it wasn't worse. That's my one big fear when these storms come through. All of trees around my house are at least 50-60 feet tall. They'd crush anything they'd fall on. Our crews are assisting the utility company up here, guarding downed wires. Some of the pictures they have sent to us are incredible.
