We saw a BUNCH of Berkies on Wednesday! Susan, Craig & Tommy at the Berkshire factory treated us like royalty and we are here to tell you that they ARE listening to the Berkshire Owners. They were happy to take the suggestion list we came up with in the forum--in fact they took our list to their Wednesday Staff meeting and discussed the requests -- so stay tuned!!
Here are a couple of photos from the factory.

I wish Russell
Those photos were part of the factory tour we took. The Berkshire Tag (XLT) is just now ramping up production (in fact all the coaches you see in the production line are XLTs!)
It will probably be mid-16 before we can get ours.
Here are some photos of the new Freightliner V-Ride Chassis, the ultraSteer Tag, and the BEAST of a 450HP Diesel Engine! The XLT has a 15K tow rating
Once the Chassis is inspected and certified by Berkshire, it goes across town to MORryde to have the Tru-Brace frame installed. We were amazed--MORryde installs the frames with a level tolerance of 0.010 that straightens the natural bend of the Freightline frame --this virtually eliminates the springboard effect!
The sub flooring is one piece so there is little chance of road squeaks like you would get if the flooring was several pieces.
This is truly a quality built coach from the ground up!!
The last photo is Craig Kruchowski, one of the Berkshire Diesel Division management team and out tour guide for the day.

Love the fact that when you swing the back doors open you can see and get at the engine. One of my wants when looking at coaches to buy was that feature, but then saw my Berk which had just about everything else we were looking for and fell in love with it. Will be interesting seeing how well the new Berks perform with the tags.

LOL! I will tell you this guys, the tag drives like a dream and the V-Ride suspension is amazing! We were purposely routed over some REALLY rough roads (we crossed over into MI :roll eyes: ) and I swear it was like nothing - ya could'a had a cup of coffee on the dinette and would not have spilled a drop!
Since the management team took our suggestion list we're with ya'll - I want to wait until they put a smart wheel & the Data Closet with conduit to the roof before we bite (no way I want to drill holes in that one piece Fiberglass roof
Speaking of a potential place for the data closet, check out what's BEHIND the TV! and look here - all the controls in one nice safe secure place!
And finally, here is a shot of that one piece fiberglass roof under construction -- that big machine in the back is the laminating machine that bonds the roof together.

Behind the TV is a good place for wiring and the such, but be careful putting electronics back there. The TV throws a lot of heat out the back, could end up cooking electronics if the there is no ventilation.

Great photos! Sounds like you had quite a tour - complete with a test drive. Could you please tell me how you made arrangements for the tour and do you know if they allow children to tour the plant? We are going to be out that way this summer and would really love to take a tour. Thanks for any info that you can provide.

It may depend on how old the children are. The tours are a cinch to set up - just call the Diesel Division and tell them you would like a tour and they will tell you what times are available (they really like to give afternoon tours since things can get pretty hectic in the mornings.)

Can't wait to take one of the Berk tags for a drive. I agree also, that I probably will wait at least for the second year model. What a beauty
