Ice storm in NE Texas

Well wouldn't you know it... Winter had one more "event" for us ... Massive ice storm in Tyler Texas... At least 4-5 inches of sleet on everything...

I have my Berk under roof and thought it would be ok... Started hearing huge limbs snap off pine trees and slam to the ground... Went out to ck on things and discovered a pine abt 36" around and at least 75' tall whose top was completely covered in ice AND leaning towards my Berk.... Immediately I realized I needed to move my coach so called neighbor who has a drive completely free from tall pines and we decided I needed to move coach over there ..

Problem solved - OH NO... His drive entrance has two huge brick columns one on each side .... Wait now... Don't get ahead of me... YES - you are correct.. I caught the one on the passenger side and tore the hot water heater cover off and bent the inside of the heater cover and put a small scratch in slide.... Can I say DAMN !!!! Off to the shop in the AM....

What's the saying - "If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all!!!"

Sorry to hear about your scrape with the column but I guess it was better than getting hit with the pine. What did happen with the pine?

Sorry to hear that, Murphy was in on that one

We were fortunate in the Dallas area, the coach is in Canton, but parked on my brothers farm inside the barn.

It's 21 degrees at 10:30 with a high of 34..... Of course, ice is covering everything and we have freezing rain forecast for tonight.... MH is still at neighbors because all roads are covered with thick ice plus a huge pine has fallen across the road up the street from my house.... Shop is closed but makes no difference because I don't want to drive on these roads....

Here in the DFW area it's partly cloudy and currently 20 with a predicted high of 28 and low of 20 tonight. Warning up tomorrow.

You guys got it worse than we do although the news shows I45 to still have ice patches.

Have a friend who was visiting their son over in Frisco yesterday. He said they got caught in that ice and it took them 11 hours to get back to West Monroe, LA.

Yep - we got hit pretty hard yesterday. Some of the sleet that fell yesterday is still in the roof valleys.

Is this ice going to prevent you from going to the FMCA Perry rally? We are looking forward to meeting up with you

Oh no..... Lord willing we will be there.... I might be the guy with a funky water heater cover AND I might need to shower in your rig.... lol ....

I take it to the shop in the AM and have told them that if they can't get it totally fixed before I leave, then just fix it so I can go and finish up when I return....

Ernest, I just hope it stays dry tonight. Naturally I had the privilege of hauling my son to work in Tyler at 6:45 this morning... Still got some slick potential everywhere in town, based on what I saw at 7pm tonight. A lot drier from your place south. Have an extra cup of coffee in the morning.

If'n ya've lived in the South for more than 5 years, ya know by now that Momma Nature's *always* gonna slap ya one more time, just when you think she's done yankin' you around for the season.

Never fails...and IMO we'll have "one more" cold spell just before Easter....not likely a hard freeze, but *cold*.

but then again...this has *not* been a normal winter for us this year

I'm officially *over* this one, dang it.

Me either...because I plan to get out of here when that happens.
We usually head for mountains the first day it hits 100.

Wow, I just realized there were 2 guys from Tyler Texas on this thread.
Glad to see there are a couple of members close to me.

I'm picking mine up on the 10th in Elkhart.
You think it's cold here...check out the weather up there.
It's been near 0 for a couple days.
I probably won't spend as much time on the PDI as I'd like as I plan to head back south ASAP.
