Installing a Security Safe in a Berkshire

Hi....I am the new owner of a 2011 Berkshire 390QS. I purchased a security safe at the Home Depot and it measures 8.5" high, 13.6" wide and 8.7" deep. It has two holes in the bottom through which two 2" lag bolts can be secured.

I am considering installing it on the floor of the clothes closet in the back of the bus. Does anyone know if it is safe to do this? I note that on the right side of the closet floor there is a raised carpeted box (approx 1' higher). Are there any restrictions under the floor area of this closet that have to be considered?

safe

Put ours there, but didn't use real long screws, used some that were about a inch long. Think the raised area has the air hose for the engine.

Safe placement

We too have a 2011 Berkshire 390QS. We just got a safe -basically same size -and wanted to mount it in the rear closet right side but on the closet floor right behind the sliding door, just to the left of the raised platform. Any concerns in that area we should know about?

No3putt. Same safe. That is the ideal place, but that's the belted in storage place for our 2 extra dining chairs. May need to relocate those chairs to basement. Thanks for pic.

We took our chairs out and just leave them at home since it's just the two of us. With bed slide in we can get to safe, just crawl on the bed. I used short bolts, not the ones supplied with the safe, if someone has a crowbar it's gone anyway.

When I get mine in a week or two, I'm going to put in UNDER the bed. Since raising the bed only shows a panel with a sticker "not a storage compartment" and is itself screwed down, I figure many would not look there.

Also, I will thru bolt it down into the chassis frame. They may still get it, but it won't be a smash and grab.

As a side note, I'm more worried about incidents such as the one that just happened in NYC with the motorcycle gang, than I am about being broken in to.

Boowho??

I mounted our safe in the cabinet above the Washer / Dryer. We have a 360 FWS!

Thanks for the great ideas. I have a small safe in the house that I don't really use, so have been thinking of a place for it in the motorhome.

I thought about that too. Did you reinforce the bottom of that cabinet in any way? I was concerned about the weight of the safe with the rig in a constant earthquake mode while rolling.
