Inverter getting hot

Does anybody have any experience with the inverter getting hot and shutting down. Even when I'm plugged into shore power and the inverter is off it's throws error code and turn some outlets and lights off. I have a 2011 bunkhouse with a 1500 magnum inverter

This can happen when the inverter is overloaded.
What are you trying to use off it?

I unplugged the coach last night to allow the inverter to cool down. Plugged in this morning , worked fine for only about a half hour before it kept tripping on and off.

The converter is working even when plugged into shore power (all your 12volts lights work off of it). If it is getting hot, I would guess the cooling fan that moves the air around/over it is not working, causing the heat to build up. That's what I would check first.

Edit....Sorry, I see you are talking about your Inverter, not the Converter. My Bad.

He's talking about INverter. Changes 12v dc to 120v AC.
Should not be doing much when plugged into shore power!

There must be a switch or something set wrong..... outlets should be
powered by shore power when available not the inverter.
I guess inverter itself could also be suspect.

Good luck finding the problem!

I was hesitant to comment but to me to it looks like the inverter is done.

If it's a Magnum, then the converter AND inverter are all in one box. AFAIK.

As someone has already suggested, make sure your cooling fan is running.

Boowho??
