ISB "short" belt....

Most of the belt failures are the result of the AC compressor seizing up. I have a spare belt with me, but that doesn't help in the above case.

I have heard of people that carry a short belt that will take the AC compressor out of the loop.

I would love a size/part number.

Called Gaffney.... they heard of it but have no info.

ISB 340 6.7

Thanks.

I understand what you are asking but I'll ask you does the A/C compressor not have a clutch on it?

Even if the compressor locked up, disabling power to the clutch would allow the pulley to turn, negating the need for a shorter belt. Now if the clutch pulley bearing locked up, that's a different story but you indicated compressor.

Not sure what fails..... just know that there have been several belt failures as a result of an "AC compressor failure"......

If the bearings seize up clutch or no clutch no matter....

Yeah, that's the scenario......

So I'm trying to be able to do damage control if that happens by having the short belt that will get us home.....bypass the seized compressor.

Now, looking at this picture, I also see that there's a pulley there in place of the compressor, probably a generator setup.... I wonder if I could pull the compressor, hang it out of the way, mount the pulley and use a standard belt...... Pulley shouldn't be too expensive.
