Has anyone retrofitted your coach with a keyless entry?

I found this -

Here is the page RV Lock Keyless Remote for Trailers, 5th Wheel and Campers.

Have you installed the new lock yet? I measured my Berkshire and the Berkishure lock looks bigger. Let us all know. If it fits I would like to get one. Looks nice.

Thanks

Yes installed it back on 2/18.
The thing is really sweet!
It was kinda tight but did fit. (just)
It actually took longer to unwrap the packaging than it took to install.

Keyless entry lock recommendation?

My wife and I have a Georgetown XL and want to install a keyless entry door lock. Any comments good or bad would be appreciated. We are considering the Bauer EM RV Entry Keyless Lock. Thanks for the feedback.

Dave, we put the same unit on our 5th wheel at FROG this year and love it. Not any problems putting it on or with it's use.

Jason I was told that there is not a system that will work. I sure would love it. I keep asking and looking.

Guys,
At this time, there is no system that I have found that works with class A's. I won a key less entry system from Lippert in Aug. 2013. They said that they only had one for trailers so they wanted to send me some hats and T shirts instead. I declined that offer and I asked them when one would be available and they said in early 2014. I waited and emailed them in June, 2014. They said it still wasn't available and that it was still being discussed at the corporate level. In July, they were still in discussions with the manufacturer. 'We had been working with RV Lock on finalizing a deal with their motorized systems'. In October I received an email stating that 'At this point, it doesn’t sound like we’ll move forward with that particular lock. Instead, we’re looking into creating our own lock. It’s still in the very early “dreaming” stages, but I’d like to keep you in the loop as we move forward with our own lock.' I was in contact with Lippert in November and they still don't have anything for class A's.
It looks like they are not interested in developing a key less entry system for class A's.
So, that is where it stands with Lippert. As Jason stated, I haven't found another system for my Berkshire either.
Don't know why there is no system to retrofit a key less entry for our coach.
Tom

If you did not get the instructions, contact Bauer for one. There is a default code that will reset when ever you change the batteries. Then you can put in your own code. With our own code in you can the lock it by touching the bottom 2 pads.

RV Lock

After using our keyless lock for three seasons it is still working great.
This past April I had to spritz the cylinder with a little lock lube because it was getting a little stiff.

I will have to say that it really eats batteries! It takes (4) AAs to operate.
I install new batteries in April & replace twice over the summer.
That’s (12) AAs over eight months.

Now to be fair we are constantly in & out of the 5er & going off site so the lock gets a lot of use. Your mileage may vary

i got one of theses locks and the Bershire has a larger handle opening than that door handle so i returned it, but has anyone researched if a Charleston one can be made to work on our Berkshires? there is a dealer rep you have to contact to get a kit but wanted to take a close look at the assist bar lock before going any further, the lock does also connect to the storage bay doors and will lock them but sounds like a lot of hidden wiring for all of this modifications i am sure i could install one but would take quit a while to do.

Back to the Berkshire keyless lock system. I have checked with the lock manufacture I think it's TriMark. They say they are working on it but thats the same answer I have gotten for two years. I had a guy in Elkhart that was going to install one for me but he couldn't find one that would work with our door. I asked at the factory and was told I would need to replace the door to get a keyless system. I don't understand why this is such a problem. I don't want to lock anything but the dead bolt. I know that the handle lock is complicated with the two stage lock so I understand that but a simple dead bolt should be easy to do. If anyone comes up with a fix for the Berkshire let us know.

Phil,
That is what Lippert has been telling me- that they are working on it. I have been getting that answer for about 1 1/2 years. Don't know why our set up is so different from others that they don't have a keyless entry for our coaches.
I guess we will just need to wait and see if something becomes available.

I believe it has to do with the DOT standards. The motor home entry door latch has to meet a higher level than that of the trailer door. This is because of passengers in the motor home while in motion vs the trailers not allowing passengers while in motion. I know that tri-mark had different door latches for out side compartment doors vs entry doors. Even though they looked the same. This was on ambulance and rescue trucks.

What's different on our Berks in comparison to Newmars and others that have the keyless locks?

The DOT stuff is in the two stage lock and not what you want to connect to a keyless. The keyless works on the dead bolt and should be a simple add on. The two stage lock is way to complicated for a keyless.
