Biggest I caught in Upstate NY on St. Lawrence was 5lb and 18 inch long

Think about things before you do them make life easier not harder.

A 5 lb bass is a BIG fish for up-state NY..... Ours grow all year; yours need overcoats in the winter.... My largest - 12.12 - came in March when temp was 28.... Where you are it would be MUCH colder....
