First off I'd like to thank Superchief and his great wife. They picked up my wife and I at the car rental, gave us a ride to the Dealers, came back after we had the inspection with the dealer on the coach and had me follow them to their house where we spent the night in the coach for the first time. He gave me all kinds of tips and pointers, hooked us up with power then we went out and had a great dinner. Rained like the dickens and guess we'll have to get use to that kind of noise over night while trying to sleep.
Trip back home was 367 miles and had a couple of minor issues.
1. Looked down out of the drivers side window on I-390 and noticed the lower compartment door where all the fuses and such are had come open and was straight out. ( thought the dealer had that locked because of the weird key for the locks but must not have, obviously, my fault shouldn't happen again )
2. Same stop walking around coach along highway and noticed the compartment door where the water pump is ( with the weird catches ) had come undone. We noticed at Superchief's house that the pins were missing and used a couple of zip ties, but they didn't work. Used a piece of tree branch, whittled it down to fit in holes and we were off.
3. Stopped on 87 at rest stop and those latches had come undone again. Found another branch and made a tighter fit. Got us home.
Best of all followed Superchief to the weigh station and had the coach weighed. Come to find out the salesman had given me the wrong tire size. The coach in fact does have the larger 275 tires and heavier weight limits according to the stickers in the cabinet. So either it came that way from factory, maybe because of the residential fridge, or the previous owners had the mod. done
.
Great trip, had a good time and hopefully meet up with Superchief and wife again next year at rally.
