After 33 years in Wyoming I would warn everyone - Do not leave the awning out when you leave! Gusty wind is so common in Wyo and shredded awnings flying in the breeze are too common in RV camps!

slides and awnings

We never leave the campsite with awning out unless we are close by, in Florida we have storms that appear from nowhere. We camped near other folks with same camper as ours and they went to disney for the day and left awning out, a storm came up while they were gone and all we could do was watch their awning get destroyed we were not able to tie it down due to height or access. yes its a good practice to roll it in especially if weather is questionable and all you have to do is push a button.
