MORryde Battery Tray Slide

Nice day so I took advantage to get the slide tray installed today. Not to bad, about 4 hours. Ran into a couple of issues, one poor design on MORrydes part.

Started out numbering all the batteries and cables.

The angle irons in the battery compartment floor to hold batteries had to be removed. Two are screwed in and two are welded. The front and right hand side were screwed down so they were not to bad. The left one I had to take an angle grinder to grind the welds, remove and flush grind the weld locations a bit. The one to the rear of box was not a conflict so I left it.

Primered the area then shot it with some black paint to clean it up.
I used some 3/8" bolts that I had here and placed a strip of rubber in between the bottom of slides and compartment using some good size fender washers with nylon locking nuts.

I have Interstate batteries and they fit into the slide so tight that I was worried how the rivets that was used to hold the latch would eventually puncture a hole into the outer batteries. I drilled out the rivets and luckily I had some 3/16" rivets as was used. I reversed them so that the flat part of the rivet was inside the slide, picked up about 1/4" which was nice.

Reattached all the cables and tie downs. There's one negative cable that I will buy an extension for , maybe 12" - 18".

Very Nice !!

Thank you for the details and photos. Looks like it may have to be added to the LONG list of things to do (as soon as the lotto co-operates)

I know business is all about making money, really, I get that. But I am not sure why FR would have stopped making these sliding trays standard. I can't imagine they costs them that much money to have installed when they are building the coaches. I have a 2013 and I guess I got one of the last ones that had the sliding tray.
