I have the Garmin RV760 LTM and it is great. Had the Rand McNally 7710 and it was the biggest price of junk I have ever had. After 3 units totally failing the most R McN would do was to replace it for the forth time with another new one. I sold it in Ebay for $200 and was thrilled to get rid of it and RMcN

I agree with Marty in the RM GPS. I didn't have mine fail but the power cord shorted out and blew every fuse it could. They replaced it and gave me free upgrades. I will say the new firm ware fixed a lot if the issues. It is still hard to see in the sunlight. I really don't know what I wait recommend. I use my phone as a back up.

Agree - the RM GPS is crap
Garmin is just about the best out there in dedicated units HOWEVER, a cell enabled iPhone or iPad is just as good or better but you will have to watch your data consumption

Same here. Great unit. I just wish the suction cup mount would stick to the dash. I mount it on the DS window instead.

Not sure about your dash, but my 2014 has the wood grain dash and my suction cup on my garmin sticks to it great. I stick it on the flat surface on the left hand side just above my vent and just below the bottom gauge.

I also bought the rand 7720 and it is Garbage. Same complaints as above. Rand replaced my first one that died. A month later the replacement died. They will not refund my money and i'm just not into the replacement game and time wasted on emails/phone calls/ etc. Just cutting my losses and throwing it out. We use our iphone. Mostly hassle free so far. Only one issue with a low overpass, but that was no biggie.

I don't have the wood grain dash. I have the ugly dash(my per name for it). I was always trying it on the right side, but it was always blocking something behind it. I didn't try the left side....could be all the Armor All I use to.

I hear ya, I would think our dashes are probably made of the same material just different look, it's pretty flat where I mentioned earlier (just to the left of the message center joy stick thing) and it doesn't block anything at all. It's also in a pretty good spot for viewing. Hope it works for you!!

I have my Garmin mounted with the suction cup in one of the weighted non skis "donuts". Have driven thousands of miles and it has not moved a fraction of an inch. See picture as it sits on slope just above temperatute guage. [

Actually, it's the hardware that's junk, IMHO. I think the software is just fine and they are supposedly releasing it on Android tablets. It's already available on iPad.

Boowho??

I have a TomTom, which is great and you cannot go wrong with that brand or Garmin. Each of these brands have many models and options. I would advise that you get the Traffic and Lifetime Map Update options. With the Traffic option, the GPS has a radio receiver that receives traffic info. and advises you of traffic jams, accidents and will offer a reroute around if possible.

All GPS'es do two point navigation (Start, END), but some do multi-point. With my unit, I can do itineraries with many via points. I like to plan the route then let the GPS do that plan. If you just let the GPS plan the route, it may not always be the way that you want to go. This is a personal thing, however. The screen interface is important and I advise that you play around with the units in the store to see which one you like. Good Luck

X2 on that! The GPS tells you where to turn but doesn't give you the big picture. The Atlas does. I however have been using an electronic Atlas, namely Microsoft Streets and Trips. It only runs on PC's however and not Apple. I use Google Maps on the I-Pad, also.

As I said in a prev post, I think the RM7720 has GREAT software. When it comes out for Android, I will get it.

The 7720 has saved my bacon twice now flagging roads with weight limits and/or low overhead clearance, that my other GPS's missed completely.

Just the hardware is crap. YMMV.

Boowho??

I have the Garmin RV760 LTM and it is awesome. Put in my statistics. Height, Weight , Width and it keeps me from going down the wrong roads. I have it synced to my Iphone and it also gives me traffic and weather updates.

Best GPS I've had!
