Need tires - Advice

Thanks agin to everyone who helped with my water issue. I'm sure it got old after a while. Lol.

So my next issue is tires. I currently have 24k on the coach but the sidewalls are cracking. After seeing that video of the coach that blew a tire and flipped. I think I should get new tires - at least steer tires. Some research I've done points me to:

Hankook
Yoko's
Double Coin
Michelins (standard when I bought)
Toyos

Of course I want to save some money yet want to be safe. Looks like prices range from $450 to over $600 per tire. I know there are a ton of threads out there. I'm curious if anyone has bought tires recently. This is what my rear tire looks like now and the fronts are similar.

You are making the right decision to buy tires. How old are those tires you have now?

Tires are one thing I would not skimp on. I do see some Berks with Goodyear tires.

Just purchased some tires, (May) got Michelins, (same size as yours) were $503 each with FMCA program, but when you add all the taxes, mounting and balance ended up a bit over $600.

If those are the back tires, I would strongly suggest you replace ALL of them and not just the fronts.

Cracking is caused by sun and prematurely makes the tires unsafe. As good and inexpensive insurance buy a set wheel covers.

Like Skip suggested look at the FMCA Michelin discount. I would stick with Michelin as I believe they are the best tire in this size. Also you might want to look at going to the 275. Many have done that upgrade and been very happy with the results. A great ride and better handling.

If nothing else, also keep them coated with 303 (30313-CSR) Aerospace Protectant.

As we all know time flies when we get older and think things are newer than they are Lol! In my water leak thread I stated my coach was a 2013. My wife corrected me and it's a 2011 So the coach is 4 years old and I have roughly 24,000 miles on her.

Four years old. What is the date on the tires?

Look at the tire and the date is DOT 0711. That would be 7th week 2011. Or the 07 might be the month. I forget right now and someone will correct me.

Don't be surprised that your tires are much older then coach, our 2009 came on a 2008 frame with later 2007 tires. Look at the age, but really think you are in need of tires.

Looked at the tires and I can only seem to locate a DOT # on the front tires

DOT B6H6 AK3X 1610

I'd join FMCA if you don't belong already. Then buy Michelin and get the FMCA discount.

And as the picture shows. Yes it is time to buy tires.

Russell.

I think the tires are 16 week of 2010. That is a lot of checking for a 5 year old tire. Do you cover them?

I agree and think everyone should join the FMCA. Lots of info discounts and rally's. You get a good magazine every month. A good organization.
